"I cannot start to explain how bad this place is. Firstly, the parking is a problem, there's a dreadful carpark at the back that I heard from another guest.
Booked the room at 5:14pm arrived 6:45pm parked up a side street and walked to the hotel/hostel.
We were greeted by a receptionist that seemed to be the most senior person available, he insisted that we "sit" for check in. Strange but OK.
He then told us that the room type that you booked (small comfort double) was on the 4th floor and the lift was broken. But he offered us a room on the 2nd floor that they usually use for single people not usually couples. He showed us both rooms when we got all the way to the top we weren't for walking back down again so we told him we'd take the room on the upper floor.
As he walked out we looked around the very small room and realised the amenities are not what you'd expect from a hotel/boutique hotel/hostel in 2026. The room was not clean, the old building was in disrepair but had been disguised by lots and lots of old tat and there wasn't even a TV.
We planned to stay the night in a nice room in Belfast, watch movies and enjoy a leisurely night. As you can see by the photos this was not going to happen. The bed was squeaky. There were gaping holes in the "period original wooden floor" that you'd surely cut your foot on. This is a health and safety hazard waiting to happen. Or probably already happened. The walls were dirty so I wasn't even going to check the bed as I wouldn't want to be further horrified. The "chandelier" was put together by Bob the electrician (see photos) the painter forgot to finish the skirting boards (see photos) the ceiling was crumbling and wasnt what you'd expect from a property with such an arrogant name. Which should now be called the Harrison chambers of doom and gloom.
So, as we were there for less than 10 mins I decided to decline to stay in the room knowing that they'd understand that we were not happy with what we had been given.
I went to the receptionist and he asked why I decided not to stay I explained that the room was not what we had expected. He said that it says on our website that they do not have TVs in any rooms. He said that it "stated on their website that they DO NOT HAVE TVS IN ANY ROOM".
Fine, my bad choice has now gotten us here but how can we go forward? The receptionist offered a gift voucher for another night another time. Not ideal but ok. I went back up the 4 floors gathered our belongings and went to walk back down the 4 floors and leave when I just so happened to stop to ask the receptionist how I would receive the gift voucher but he was busy with another couple. I waited and then as I was standing with my luggage he came and told me the manager had refused to issue the voucher.
It's there policy and he was very sorry. He seemed to be on my side and he said he would do it if he could but the big bad manager wouldn't allow it.
I asked to speak to the elusive manageress who seemed to just vanish at the sight of a confrontation but to just leave her minions to deal with the situation. I've never been in a hotel that refused to deal with a problem directly but there's a first for everything.
There's also a last for everything and this will be the last time I'd book here.
The customer service was as horrendous and horrible as the decor.
I explained repeatedly that I was not happy with the outcome and the receptionist just brushed my complaint off saying this is simply our policy. It might be. But its a bad policy. Even in a carpark you get 10 mins free to change your mind. Not at the Harrison chamber pot of mediocrity.
If you book at all there's no movement, no room for mistake, no error, literal strictness.
If only they'd hold themselves to the same high standard they expect from their guests. Disgusting. Disappointing. Bewildering. Massive let down. Still waiting on a reply from the manager. Not holding my breath. Still waiting on my stolen money to be refunded. This could have been a very different review but I cannot fathom how in 2026 this happened. Still waiting on a refund. Manager still never phoned to face me. Vile keyboard warrior."
