The Scotsman Hotel

"Absolutely devastated by my experience here. I was so excited to stay at the Scotsman leading up to my trip to be severely let down and frustrated. I reserved my rooms through the hotel directly which allowed them to upgrade one of the two rooms which I am incredibly grateful for. However, the second room not upgraded was in terrible condition. The floors were stained and destroyed and was not a room worth $500+ a night. Between reservations and receptions the miscommunication was incredibly frustrating. I added an additional night to each room before arrival and was provided an incorrect confirmation with incorrect pricing which then led to paying an additional $1400 for one NIGHT that I was NOT expecting. I was charged upon check in for “my stay” and asked again for payment at check out. I showed the receptionist the payment that posted on my account and was told that amount would be refunded and the new charges would take its place. My card was then charged SEVEN times and nobody could tell me why and what for. I was only told the charges would be refunded and days later they had not. I fought and fought and was then told my confirmation was wrong and new charges would be placed for the additional third night at a higher nightly rate then I additionally booked for. And reception seemed to be more frustrated that I was questioning the 7 charges. Terrible customer service, a lack of compassion and a “that sucks” mentality. I would never stay here again. And would not recommend as there are MUCH better options in the area."

"We stayed 2 nights on a Scottish road trip. I write this saying that the huge room costs are mostly for the location. A stones throw from the Royal Mile and walking distance to everything which is priceless. The hotel is lovely, staff were great and breakfast was good. The rooms are nice and clean. The hot chocolate in reception was also a good touch. The only thing that really disappointed us was the bed. It was tiny (probably a double) and the mattress sunk in the middle. Both these things made it a really uncomfortable night sleep as we kept rolling inwards. I know there are more expensive rooms in the hotel as they may have better beds and if the the bed was better then it would have been perfect (albeit expensive)"

"I really liked staying here, it was very safe and pleasant. David truly made the whole experience extra special, he’s very knowledgeable about multiple cultures and we had a great chat about my hometown and how he wanted to visit it. He truly took me back home in a foreign country."
