"Just leaving our stay at The Clermont London, Charing Cross. In all we stayed at the property approximately a week. We chose this hotel primarily for its central location which was, in our opinion, the right choice. It’s super close to the train station that comes in from Gatwick Airport which made getting in a breeze. Also, very close to 2 Underground lines for getting around the city. The location makes it walkable to Trafalgar Square, The National Galley, and Covent Garden. Even though the atmosphere outside the hotel is quite hectic, once inside it feels calm and peaceful. The staff at our check in were friendly, courteous, helpful, a pleasure to interact with. We purchased the breakfast package. Breakfast was served at the Hotel’s Platform 7 Restaurant. Most days we were greeted by a lovely gentleman named Mateus. He was pleasant, patient and managed the seatings with aplomb. Our room was clean and satisfactory and it was a refreshing change not to charged for cold water and some snacks that waited for us in the mini bar after long hours of site seeing each day. So why only 4 stars. First, although a very convenient and central location, there can be a fair amount of undesirable people around the exterior of the hotel, especially as night approaches. Also, our room was not at all in a convenient location to the elevators. This meant needing to walk halfway around the hotel every time we would need to get back to our room. The hotel had 2 bathrooms to use if you did not want to return to your room. However neither was in a convenient location and one was out of service for part of our stay. Finally, the last reason for the rating was that although the breakfast was full and complete, there was almost no variation so the food became monotonous and a few, but certainly not most, of the wait staff were not happy to be doing their job and made that apparent to this guest by attitude and behavior.
However, overall, way more positives and a solidly good choice!"
