"I’m a frequent guest at Citadines London. I have stayed twice at the one in South Kensington, and several times at other locations. This place was more convenient on this occasion, so I decided in its favour.
On my arrival, I had a room that looked out onto scaffolding for facade maintenance. That was a shock for me. Never had I imagined that whoever is in charge of room assignments could think of giving a room facing the scaffolding, even for one night, let alone for five, with workers walking to and fro since early morning every day. You need to keep the curtains drawn all the time, and never see any natural light. Embarrassing and frustrating.
I asked to move to a different room facing a side where there was no scaffolding. They said they didn’t have any room available that day, but that they could move me the next day, which I, of course, accepted. If nothing else…
The new room had twin beds, pushed together to make a double bed, but with single bedsheets and duvets. I wondered why they didn’t bother to make the bed up as a double bed: it would have been much more comfortable. Again, I wondered whether any communication had taken place between the reception and the housekeeping staff.
Other little issues: the kitchen sink didn’t drain properly, the bathroom was quite narrow, the window was rather tricky to open and would only open slightly, the toilet roll holder was missing the end cap so the roll kept falling off and wouldn’t roll properly, in general the place would benefit from some routine maintenance.
The staff at the reception was very kind and accommodating, though.
Besides, it was very clean and I appreciated that there was a laundrette available for guests.
Overall, I think that this place is a bit overrated and overpriced. Other Citadines in London offer a higher standard of quality. However, my stay was comfortable enough for the time I spent in London on this occasion."
