"I booked a room on booking.com, without paying attention. I looked at price (108 pounds), location. I arrived and checked in, and I got a sort of storage room size, no windows, smelling like piss. Of course, no refund. I asked for an upgrade, I was informed that it is not possible, and that it was my fault as I was supposed to check. Bear in mind, on booking there is no section “windowless room”. I had to search for another hotel and lost 108 pounds, but that room was not usable."

"As other reviewers mention, this EasyHotel has an extremely convenient location mere steps from the main railway station and a brief 10 minute walk uphill to the cultural sites of Birmingham, like the museum and theatre. My room, although small, was spotlessly clean and common areas like the stairwell and lobby were well maintained. The highlight of my stay were the helpful staff, especially Kim, who was at the desk when I arrived. When I discovered I had left my mobile charger back at home he went out of his way to help me print out tickets and find a substitute charger. He also advised me on the nearest place where I could conveniently buy a replacement. It was very re-assuring to have someone so helpful and kind at the desk. The only difficulty I encountered was my key card de-activating mid-day after my first night (I was booked to stay for 2 nights). It should be perfectly possible to program cards to give access for the duration of a guests stay, rather than de-activating at checkout time and making it necessary for people to go to reception to rectify the issue."

"Good value stay and the location is very convenient to Birmingham New Street train station. Aircon was effective but room size was an issue...2 fixed hangers and nowhere to put a bag etc. TV reception on regular terrestrial channels was unwatchable and the shower was cold on the 2nd morning. Being charged a fiver to leave a small backpack for axfew hours is a bit cheao..expect if it was a Ryanair hotel, it'd be the same."
