THE HEART OF THE CITY
This grand square, with its distinctive black-and-white checkerboard paving, surrounded by red ochre buildings and palm trees, is a focal point of the city. Located between the Old Town and the Promenade des Anglais, Place Masséna is a hub of activity and a gateway to Nice’s top attractions.
The square’s adorned with modern art, including Jaume Plensa’s “Conversation à Nice”, seven illuminated statues perched high on poles, symbolising communication between continents. In the middle, you’ll see the Fontaine du Soleil featuring a striking statue of Apollo.
Stroll through the nearby Albert I Garden, a lush park perfect for relaxation, or walk to the Promenade du Paillon, a family-friendly space with fountains and playgrounds. Luxury shops and cafés line the streets, great for some retail therapy or a leisurely coffee.
Place Masséna is also a cultural hotspot, hosting events like the Nice Carnival and concerts throughout the year. Being close to both the beach and the Old Town, it’s a perfect base for exploring Nice. Whether day or night, Place Masséna offers a dynamic blend of history, art, and local charm.
