"The hotel has an excellent location, with close proximity to shopping streets, restaurants, the beach and the old town. There was also surprisingly little street noise.
Unfortunately, the room we were assigned was worn and outdated and located at the very end of a corridor. It had only a tinted window facing a wall about one meter away, with surrounding walls so high that no daylight reached the room at all. The lighting inside was harsh white and uninviting, which made the room unpleasant to spend time in, and we therefore stayed there as little as possible.
The ventilation system was very poor. We reported this to the staff, but were told that it was a central system for the entire hotel and could not be adjusted. Even with the temperature set to 10°C, the room remained very warm and we had to sleep without duvets. A fan was provided, but it did not help with the heat or the lack of fresh air, and every time we returned to the room from outside we were hit by heavy, stale air.
The room did not match the photos shown on the hotel’s website or booking page. We could clearly see that rooms facing the street were much nicer (when the cleaning staff was inside) and had significantly better light conditions, so those rooms do exist at the hotel, but we were unfortunately not among those who experienced them. In addition, there was only one usable power outlet available for three people in the room. We ended up unplugging the mini fridge to charge our phones, which was not a major loss since the fridge was not cold anyway.
The breakfast was also disappointing and not worth the extra cost, especially considering the many excellent cafés and bakeries nearby offering good coffee and fresh sandwiches or pastries.
Overall, the location is the hotel’s greatest strength, but unfortunately it is also the only aspect that truly stands out in a positive way."
