"My husband and I are currently staying at the Warwick Geneva Hotel. Let me start this review with the pros for this hotel: The location is perfect for our travels by train. The Geneva CORNAVIN GARE STATION is directly across the street. The morning staff for breakfast were friendly and attentive. Our dinner the first night we were here was very good and our waiter was exceptional! We are staying in a Penthouse Terrace Suite that has wonderful views of the city.
Now the cons: We bought trays of meats and cheeses to make a charcuterie board for us and another couple who traveled with us. We put these items in the mini-bar. The next day, I took the items out and they were hot and had to be thrown away. The mini-bar was not cold at all. Another issue is the suite is on the 4th floor and gets susnshine most of the day. Our bedroom and living room were exceptionally warm. There are instructions on the wall by the thermostat to adjust the air conditioning. We followed the steps to turn the dial to “A” for automatic and turned the dial all the way to “blue” for coldest setting. The rooms never got cool, so we opened the terrace doors at night to cool down our spaces and slept with the doors open. Unfortunately, the road noise is very loud and we couldn’t sleep. After 2 nights of trying to cool the rooms,I approached the morning person at the check in counter. I explained our problems. He told me the air conditioning isn’t like Saudi Arabia or the U.S.which was very condescending and rude. I have read other reviews that said the same words were given to them when complaining about hot rooms. He also told me the mini-bar isn’t a refrigerator, which I am well aware of. However, there were bottles of beer, champagne and soda in the mini-bar which I assume are meant to be cold for drinking. The mini-bar was hot. I asked him to send someone up to look into both problems. We went and sat down to have breakfast. He returned a few minutes later and told me his maintenance man said everything was working fine and the room temperature was 20C. The reason the room was cool in the morning was because the doors were left open all night. He also said the air conditioner controls were turned off, even though we set everything according to the instruction card on the wall. I asked him if the maintenance man turned the air on then if they were off and he said “no”. I asked him to please have him go back up and turn it on if we hadn’t in fact done it right.
We had plans for the day and were gone for 8 hours. When we returned, the air conditioner was working and the mini-bar was now cold. Hmmmmm. Seems like someone fixed the problem. This staff member needs better training in customer service relations. His combative and condescending tone are not excusable. He ruined what would have otherwise been a relaxing and peaceful 5 night stay. This staff member treated me as if I was incapable of figuring out how to turn on a thermostat. For the record, I have an undergraduate degree, two master’s degrees and a doctorate in Financial Adminstration, Leadership and Supervision. I’m a very good judge of character and positive employee traits. He was lacking both or else poorly trained. This reflects negatively on the Warwick Geneva Hotel."
