"We had never been to Morocco before so were really excited about the week we had booked.
First impressions of the hotel - bit of a let down. We were travelling with our toddler and 3 suitcases and you have to drag your luggage yourself from the road where you're dropped off up into the hotel foyer. I've never experienced this before in an all inclusive hotel. The bellboy service exists only within the hotel. (A special thanks to Reda who helped us on our final day while moving rooms due to late check out).
Our flight out of the UK was delayed and we were hot and tired, initially ushered into a small room where we and other holiday makers had to complete hotel arrival cards with passport info / home address etc, and then you have to go and actually check in at the front desk. The info given was so very basic, basically the meal times and that was it. No info about animation / shows/ spa etc. As our flight had been delayed, we had missed lunch so after our luggage arrived in the room we made our way to the snack bar for something to eat.
The room itself was fairly basic, 2 single beds pushed together, baby cot as we had requested, tv on the wall (YouTube and Netflix enabled) 2 chairs and small table, balcony which had a side sea view and view of the next door hotel's corridors.
The snack bar is a small buffet style which has pizza, salad, pasta cooked as you wish, beef burgers and hot dogs, and in the afternoon they make donuts (be aware they are not sweetened!)
The main buffet restaurant is very busy and hectic. Drinks are via self service - soft drink vending machines, water via a machine, coffee machines and self serve beer via vending tap / self serve wine from bottles. At mealtimes our lovely waiters Hassan and Khalil saved us a table each day with a high chair, at breakfast he served us with orange juice. Khalil also brought me a lovely fresh made coffee one day and both made a fuss of our little girl which she loved. The food in the buffet is nothing special and doesn't really change day to day. Moroccan section, fish/ seafood section, pasta station, salad / cold meats and cheese, main meat section - often pre packed chicken or turkey roll cut into slices, there was never really a barbecue or grill station for meat which was really disappointing. We were expecting some themes to the meals eg a full Moroccan night, a full seafood night, a full Italian / French night but nothing of the sort happened. The hot food is also never particularly hot which is a real let down. There is one chef in the restaurant who was particularly kind and professional, Mubarak. He, Hassan and Khalil are real credits to the F&B team at the hotel. All the staff in the restaurant were kind and nice to be honest, especially with our little one.
The snack bar there is absolutely no table service for drinks - again self service / queue at the bar. The tables are not cleaned regularly nor cleared leading to birds coming for scraps. Pizza and chips and nuggets were always cold - try to wait for a freshly made pizza if you can! Burgers and beef frankfurter type sausages are cooked to demand as well so you can guarantee they will be hot. The bread buns though are almost always a bit stale as they are left uncovered.
The bars in the evenings get extremely busy with long queues - however the mojitos are really good and drinks are fine. The lobby bar is only open until 12 midnight which is quite disappointing and again not what we expect from all inclusive.
Animation team are really friendly but not much seems to go on in the day time - there seems to be a schedule but we don't know what they do or where. There's a kids club too which has a full schedule but our little one was too young to go there.
Evening shows are really good and the dancers are fantastic - we really enjoyed the evening shows at 9:30 in the indoor venue. There seemed to be some quiz / musician most evenings at the terrace under the restaurant too which was good.
Reception staff are quite unwelcoming and dismissive.
There didn't seem to be any guest relation presence / no one asking about how they stay is during the time spent in the hotel. You may be given an iPad in the restaurant though to complete a survey on your experience.
Oh we also were not given pool cards on check in and had to go to reception on our second day to ask if pool towels were provided and only then were cards signed out to us.
Sun beds around the pool - good luck, people reserve these at the crack of dawn and they are literally in long rows without spaces - get close and friendly with the person next to you!!
Nothing within easy walking distance of the hotel, the shops at the front are never really open / at least don't look open. If you come out of the hotel at the beach end and go right, there's quite a nice walk down the beach street and you'll come across street sellers, and after about 20 mins walk there is a road to the right and there are sellers displaying their hand painted pictures. We loved these and bought one for home. Souk el had is about 15 mins car ride and well worth a visit too.
Taxis are readily available outside the front of the hotel however be warned you need to haggle and agree a price first. The prices are often very inflated for tourists.
All in all, we really liked Agadir but I don't think we would return to Iberostar Founty Beach again soon.
Everyone's experience and expectations are different. For what we paid, I do think our stay was good value."
