"Pros:
Very nice reception area and hotel, nice and air conditioned.
Grounds kept nice
Pools nice and plentiful beds – although could do with some new ones as a lot broken
Rooms were large along with the bathrooms, and the TV huge
Shop – nice but good luck finding it open.
Cons:
Food – worst in my lifetime of travel – I actually lost half a stone (which I can’t afford to lose) as I went to recuperate due to ill health. There was a lot of choice, but it was almost always cold, there were cauldrons of soup which I doubt were switched on – if you got there for 7 pm when it opened, you’d get something hot but anything after 7.30 unless they’d just refreshed (which wasn’t often) then you’d have to use the one microwave. The meat looked like it had been chewed and popped back in. I was so looking forward to some nice Moroccan food, but it was just cheap and nasty. The chicken and turkey were always overdone/thin and dry. The food was also really repetitive.
Service – this was dreadful, the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The waiters didn’t do anything, they never cleaned the tables, didn’t turn around tables, no idea why some where in white and some in blue as to be honest none of them did any work. People were just wandering into the main restaurant trying to find a seat, it seemed if you were French or Local you were looked after but the rest of us were just left to try and find a table and then had to raid other tables for cutlery, serviettes, condiments and glasses. We struggled to get drinks most evenings and were just totally ignored by the waiters. There really needs to be someone in charge who is greeting guests as they come in and then being sent to areas where there are nominated waiters who clear and make up tables immediately. It took two members of staff to take a trolley round to clear tables in such a haphazard way – all the while chatting to each other and taking their time – no urgency to ensure guests were taken care of. It did feel we were in the way – shame really as if they didn’t have guests they wouldn’t have a job.
Rooms - although nice, why don’t hotel rooms have a mirror above the area where you sit, the only mirror was in the bathroom or the wardrobe which is no good if you are trying to do hair/makeup. The lights were also so dim – surprised didn’t go out looking like Coco the Clown each evening. Beds were made pretty early for us every day which was good.
Poolside – don’t expect anyone to bring you a drink – you have to go to the bar and then wait in the queue for the extremely slow staff. Must be a ploy to make up for being all inclusive as most people probably didn’t have many drinks on holiday due to having to wait so long. The beds could do with an overhaul and some of the chairs as some broken, but at least we could get one. There were signs about not reserving beds but everyone did do this even if they weren’t going to use it until the afternoon. There are a few pools some for the kids with all the entertainment going on around it and another one which is a bit quieter which didn’t have many children in. Was lovely and cool which you needed – although I’d recommend them reinstate the handrails back onto the two sets of steps for Health and Safety reasons.
Spa – this was very nice. Wouldn’t recommend going to the hairdresser – I did as I had to get some dry ends cut off – unsure if he’s had any training – but again that was my decision and took a chance.
Reception Staff – quite helpful. Although we were delayed getting to the hotel by a couple of days which EasyJet had informed the Hotel about and when we arrived they’d sold our 2 x week holiday room. We were over an hour waiting for them to sort it out – they didn’t keep us informed of what was going on but were discussing amongst themselves and looking over at us which made us extremely nervous. Eventually they did find us a room. We’d paid for 2 x weeks so unsure how they could sell it. Whilst we were waiting the same thing had happened to another couple who were only there for 4 x days.
Trips – due to my ill health, we only took one trip on the Free Shuttle to the Medina which unfortunately the shuttle drops you off about half a mile away, doesn’t give you any direction of where to go and are then jumped on by locals looking for you to pay them to guide you around – which we declined. We did get to the square whereby nothing was open and due to such a long walk we gave up and just got a taxi back to the hotel.
Weather – fabulous, it was much hotter than expected, and around the pool they do have olive trees for which I laid under which were perfect shade as the sun just burnt through the umbrellas."
