"Terrible Experience at Mercure Hotel Airport Geneva – Apple Watch Disappeared from My Room After Check-Out
I have stayed at this 4-star hotel before, and I would never have imagined experiencing something like this, especially in Geneva and at a hotel of this category.
This morning, October 22, 2026, I checked out at approximately 8:30 AM, leaving room 410.
While dealing with several work-related phone calls, I unfortunately forgot my Apple Watch in the room, still connected to its charging cable and power adapter.
An honest mistake that, in a hotel of this standard, should certainly not result in the permanent loss of a valuable personal belonging.
The bottom line is that my Apple Watch has disappeared and has not been found.
When I left the hotel, the housekeeping staff were already on the floor, cleaning and preparing the rooms. I cannot know exactly what happened, but I find it extremely concerning that an item left behind in a recently vacated room could simply disappear without a trace.
In all my years of travelling and staying in hotels, including frequent business trips, this is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this. Normally, when a guest accidentally leaves something behind, the housekeeping staff find it and hand it over to reception so that the rightful owner can retrieve it.
I therefore seriously question the hotel's procedures for handling lost and found items, and how an electronic device, complete with its charging cable and power adapter, could simply vanish.
I am deeply disappointed and extremely upset. From a 4-star hotel belonging to an international chain such as Mercure, I expect much higher standards of reliability, integrity, professionalism, and respect for guests' personal belongings.
WARNING TO FUTURE GUESTS – BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS: Based on my experience, I strongly advise anyone staying at Mercure Hotel Airport Geneva to thoroughly check their room before checking out, because in my case, an item accidentally left behind was never recovered.
This has been a truly unpleasant experience, which has completely undermined my trust in this hotel.
I expect the hotel management to provide a serious explanation, conduct a thorough internal investigation, and give me a clear and concrete response regarding what happened to my Apple Watch.
