"The hotel is located in a very pictureque part of Kotor Bay a 10 minute drive from the centre of Kotor old town. Our room offered stunning views across the bay toward the pretty village of Perast.
The welcome we received on arrival and check in sat down with a glass of Prosecco was a nice touch.
We were early to check in but got our room straight away.
The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. We had spacious balcony, impressive view over the bay toward Perast. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, 2 large bottles of water complementary each day, a ketlle, coffee machine, cups, coffee pods and tea bags, drinking glasses mugs and tea spoons. There were bathrobes in the wardrobe and slippers. Too small for me but certain if i had asked for larger sizes they would have been bought up quickly. The room was spotlessly clean.
I did try the room phone to call reception one timr but i dont think it was working. The air con was off line for the duration of our stay as well. Had to make do with 2 free standing fans delivered on request to the room to make sleep possible.
Breakfast at the blue resaurant was good. Plenty of choices. Fresh orange juice, tea, coffee, water available included in the price of breakfast. A chef to make up fresh ommelettes on request. The bacon was very thin, crispy and salty, sausage was nice but not like British bangers but when in Rome...
Loads of cakes, pastrys sweet and sour, sliced bread for toasting. 1 type of jam but no marmalade sadly. You wont leave there hungry. Sadly on 1 morning the hotel got fuller and we had to wait for a table because there were insufficent staff to clear, clean and re stock the tables quickly enough. 4 table staff trying to work around 100+ people. I put this down to poor management not having ample staff to start with.
The evening meal buffets were ok but not 5 star quality and choices were quite limited. Hot food was luke warm except for the doups that were always nice and hot. Soft hot and cold drinks avilable with the meals at no extra cost same as at breakfast time.
All of the staff we interacted with, be it reception, restaurant/bar staff and housekeeping are a credit to the hotel. Very polite and go out of their way if you need their assistance. A big shout out for Tara in the blue restaurant who left a nice little unexpected suprise in our room for my birthday.
None of the bars had any draught beers to serve throughout our stay.
We did use the lighthouse restaurant for a 3 course a la carte meal and both the service and food quality were excellent. Food was also good at the beach bar.
Just a suggestion here. The hotel could do with running a courtesy bus for guests into Kotor as it is a 15 minute jaunt on the local bus service which only runs hourly and a bit hap hazard. Taxis are around €15 each way.
One highlight for us each day were the Housemartins busy building nests on the ceiling of our balcony. Nice to sit out as they were busying themselves all around us.
We enjoyed our stay overall but were ready to come home after 7 nights knowing we were not going through the same evening meal buffet menu for another week. Plus we got to see evrywhere we planned for during our stay.
Would we stay there again? Probably not. Not because of the place itself or the staff. Far from it. I think peak summertime there with the hotel at near full capacity would be a nightmare at mealtimes or getting out and about because of its location. The road outside is very tight in places and not for the feint hearted if thinking of hiring a car to get about and the hourly bus service is only a small bus. But i have an open mind to try another Hyatt hotel elsewhere in the future."
