"My partner and I stayed here recently for one night as we had come to see a production on stage not far away and we thought we would stay here as this was the closest hotel.
Prior to arrival we didn’t know what to expect as neither of us had stayed here before and we were very impressed the team who checked us in as they smiled, said hello and engaged well including taking a large suitcase up to our room. We also thought the hotel was very bohemian throughout the areas we saw, and we also thought the room we had was spacious, clean and quiet as we didn’t hear any noises from other rooms or the corridor except when we got up the following morning and we could hear your colleagues cleaning the other rooms and corridor.
However before we went to bed, we had a shower which was very disappointing for three reasons a) the complimentary toiletries (namely shampoo, conditioner and bodywash) were a little far from the shower which meant you had to step out of the water to use them, b) the showerhead was meant to be a rain shower but was more of a trickle of water for the size head and the other shower you would hold in your hand was not much better and c) the water wasn’t very hot and I let it run for a good 10 minutes before getting in to use the shower.
The following morning before we went down for breakfast, we had another shower and this was the same as the night before and the water for the sink as I had a wet shave was better. Sadly we were a little disappointed as the breakfast team were not very friendly and they seemed to be short of them.
We opted for an omelette each. The chef was friendly, but the food wasn’t very warm and with our omelettes we had a few other items of cooked breakfasts such as sausages, beans, mushrooms but they were not warm either. we also had a hot drink each which came from a machine, and this was warm, but I had to ask a few times where I could put a used teabag as there was no plate or dish and eventually, I had to help myself and I wasn’t the only person who asked.
Before we left, we asked reception if we could have an extended stay for an hour and this was agreed and yet we were asked by some of your other colleagues what time we were checking out as clearly not all of your colleagues were told as we needed an hour extra to pack our suitcases again.
When back in reception once again the reception team were polite, friendly and helpful as we had booked an uber taxi to take us where we were going next. When we left, we spoke about our experiences at the hotel and we both agreed they were mixed as some staff were fantastic and others not very polite, engaging or helpful and the location was fantastic least not easy to find and get back to Holborn Underground Station.
We also discussed would we stay there again, and we said we weren’t sure as some things were better than others and with a few small but significant changes the hotel could be better too."
