Grand hotel Praha

"Wonderful hotel directly opposite the astronomical clock. Traditional rooms make you feel like you’re in old Prague but with all modern amenities. Service was superb and you get a discount if you eat at Cafe Mozart. It was my husband’s birthday and I made a special request about this, which they provided. They also left a happy birthday card in our room for him which was a lovely gesture. Would definitely recommend."

"Location and the staff were great and the breakfast was good. Be careful the reception and resturant areas are really good fresh and clean but be aware of some of the rooms. I am sure they have some good rooms reserved for influences and other favoriod guests. But if you book through one of the "nessarsary evil" facilitators you will be reserved one of rooms that may not meet your standards for a suposidly 4 star hotel (look closer at the skirting etc.) The noise was a big problem in our room but the window wasn't doubled framed like the favorites rooms we got on average 2 hours sleep per night we also got the added bonus of suffering bed bites somwhere on our trip although it must have been off a tram seats or maybe the seats on the plane coming home because it couldn't be the hotel."

"Let's start with a short list of why this hotel is absolutely not recommended, especially not for over $300 for two days! - The air conditioning in the room does not work, and that in the middle of summer. After we talked to two different people at the reception during the day and let them know, and also a very friendly security employee inspected the unit, we were promised the maintenance technician would take care of it the next day. No one ever came! - There is mold in the bathroom on the edge of the shower. - Our window was located right next to a very loud ventilation system on the side of the "courtyard," if you can even call it that, which is actually just a narrow gap between two buildings that is teeming with pigeons and where their excrement is piling up. We couldn't open the window because of the noise and the pigeons, so airing out the room was impossible! (Midsummer, no ventilation, no air conditioning, room temperature accordingly much too high) Also, in general, this room is very, very noisy. You can hear the toilet flushing in the neighboring rooms through the walls; you notice everyone who walks by or sneezes there, so there is no talk of peace or privacy here. Cleanliness is lacking here; you can sometimes find clumps of someone else's hair and headphones and cotton swabs from the previous guest behind the bed... Furthermore: We asked at the reception where there was an ATM and a mailbox nearby, and the only response we got was a disinterested: "Just Google it." Sure, you can't always know everything, but such a disinterested answer has nothing to do with good service and hospitality. At a hotel in this price range, I expect at least a clean room, a functioning air conditioning system, some peace and quiet, and reasonable treatment of guests. It fell short on all these points here. Breakfast is okay, at least that's something. Absolutely not recommended for this price, and nothing you would expect from a four-star Grand Hotel! I would definitely not book here again."
