"This was our first time in Portugal and we initially arrived at another hotel to find it had a very bad black mold problem. As someone with an severe allergy to black mold we knew we could not stay there for our 6 night duration. My husband looked up other hotels in the area and he found The Social Hub (Porto) and it was just a few short walk away. At 11:30pm at night we walked over to the hotel to check it out and we were greeted by Yuri. We explained our desperate situation and need to switch hotels asap. We were so paranoid about getting another room somewhere with issues we asked if we could see their rooms and he gladly brought us up to one of the rooms to check out and we were so impressed. This is a newer hotel and everything is immaculately clean and modern. After seeing how wonderful the rooms and hotel itself were we immediately made a reservation for our remaining 5 nights in Porto. Yuri offered to hold our luggage for us the following morning until it was time to check in so that we could evacuate the other hotel as early as possible.
After being up all night sick from the mold at the other hotel we were so desperate to leave there that we arrived at The Social Hub at 7am looking like a hot mess. Yuri was still there and he took our luggage to hold and we ventured off to get some breakfast. We arrived back later to check in to see if our room was ready to possibly get an early check in and we were assisted by the lovely Rayanne who found out our room was indeed ready and we could check in which was GREATLY appreciated!
As previously said, the hotel is newer and immaculately clean. The beds are the comfiest beds that we have ever slept in at a hotel! Truly! This hotel has students on the first two floors I believe with hotel rooms for guests on the remaining 6 floors. The lobby areas have a bit of a "college vibe" and at first we thought we might feel out of place being older but we felt right at home. We never heard any noise from other guests while in our room. There's a roof top pool, bar and restaurant and although we just took a peek up there the one night the food and drinks looked amazing. The lobby has fresh water to fill up your bottles, fresh fruit, and cookies available. It also has an area to buy drinks, sandwiches, desserts, and merchandise. There is a pool table and ping pong table to use and also a grocery store around the corner that was great for picking up beer, wine, and groceries. The rooms were equipped with a mini fridge, safe, hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryer. There were washers, dryers, and irons with ironing boards on the main level of the hotel. This hotel is in a really great location and central to everything and that was an added bonus!
We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we would definitely stay here again the next time that we visit Porto. Thank you again to Yuri for his kindness during a very stressful time for us and also thank you to Rayanne for the very warm welcome and getting us into our beautiful room asap. We hope that management will acknowledge them both for the wonderful guest care that they provided us!"
