"The bungalows paintwork on the wooden patio door entrance was almost all worn away. Other patio doors were made of UPVC or metal and were in much better condition.
The external walls at the entrance to the bungalow were showing bare concrete where the whitewash should have been.
This was the same for the small, private, courtyard area at the rear.
The kitchen/lounge area was clean and tidy. The fridge was spotless and surfaces were also very clean. In need of a little decoration.
The bathroom was again very clean but with several drilled holes in the tiles, paint flaking from the side of the sink panel and from the plug itself let it down.
The shower head was at a strange angle which makes me think it wasn’t the right holder for it. However, the shower was lovely.
Bedroom was clean and functional. Bedding was crisp and white.
The decor was in need of refreshment and the side drawer next to the bed was secured at a 15 degree angle (guesstimate). The wardrobes were spacious and clean with plenty of hangers.
All in all, 2 out of 5 for the room - just because, other properties (which are all the same) were presented better externally.
The facilities were great. One heated pool and one not so heated were always kept clean and tidy. Having said that, there were lots of black marks on the sides of the pool which looked like mould. I don’t think it was, it probably just needed a good paint job (there’s a theme running through this review).
There’s a fair amount of crumbling concrete or other material under foot leading into the main restaurant and drinks area. These really need sorting.
Sunbeds were available to us each day but, get up too late and you may miss out. It gets very busy and other guests love to rise early in order to secure their space by the pool. There are no rules on reserving sunbeds.
We did not rise early (around 08:30 out the door) to get a sunbed and we were able to secure one each day.
The staff are amazingly friendly and can’t do enough for you. They all speak English which is great.
The food is your typical stuff. Fresh enough and good variety but, it’s the same each day. We only booked bed and breakfast but we did eat at the premises one day. The meat was of low quality with little bone fragments found in the meat patties! Lots of gristle and fat. Fish was a much better option.
The main resort is a 20 minute walk and is well worth seeking out for top quality food. A special mention for Puerto Blanco restaurant that was recommended to us. We visited there 3 nights out of the 7 it was that good! The rib eye steak is to die for.
Almost all the guests staying at the Sandos Atlantic Gardens were all inclusive which was fun to watch, especially at 13:00 when lunch starts. It’s like a rush to get into a car boot sale! The same herd mentality exists on a Wednesday morning when the staff are cleaning the pool area and people are unable to reserve their sunbeds. It’s hilarious and shamefully British.
Now, I’m not ageist but, if you’re under 55 (I’m 54) you will feel positively young amongst the other guests so, if that bothers you, this won’t be the place for you.
Many couples return here every year and have probably been doing so for many, many years.
The evening entertainment is geared towards the age demographic and we stayed just for one performance on one night but left relatively early.
Also, the entertainment is inside where there is nowhere near enough tables and chairs to accommodate everyone.
Overall, it’s spotlessly clean, a beautiful setting and not far from the main town but, not our cup of tea really due to the retirement gangs, so we won’t be heading back to the Atlantic Gardens anytime soon."
