"Booked this 3 star instead of normal higher star ratings to save a little money. Possibly regretted that.
On arrival the reception staff were very friendly and explained about the way the all inclusive system works (more about that in a min!) and checked us in a little earlier than expected.
One room was ready early so we dumped our bags and went for an explore.
The reception, bar, hallway, gym etc were all spotlessly clean and there was always cleaners about working hard.
We had two rooms (1 x adult and 2 children in each) and they put us next to each other and on a lower floor as was our request when booking with Tui.
The rooms were in my opinion small but functional. No tea making items but that was probably on the room description so my fault for not checking.
Air con worked really well and fridge was good.
In one room we had problem after problem. The shower immediately blocked up and flooded the floor quickly, whilst my son was using it, we had to use all the towels from both rooms to mop up. We went to reception and they sent someone up to sort, although it was unblocked it still blocked up daily throughout our stay.
Then another trip to reception for more towels but they had no shower towels left to hand out.
The safe didn’t work (although we never bothered to mention this to reception)
The key cards stopped working on a daily event for both rooms, so had to keep going back to reception for them to reset the cards. This became quite annoying.
The curtain had a big rip in it (photo) with paint on it, told reception. Nothing done about it by reception. The shower room in one room was grubby and tired.
The cleaners visited daily and worked so hard in the heat. They made the rooms up daily if requested using the card on the door.
When checking in you are given a slip of paper, this is to allow you into the dining area for breakfast lunch and dinner. Don’t try and get in without it. The chap on the door to the dining room is in my opinion rude and unwelcoming and unfriendly. I think he’s in the wrong profession.
He won’t let the group in if separated so if kids come in behind you they’re stopped, if someone else in the group has your card - You're stopped, if the kids go out to the loo and try to get back in, they’re stopped from re-entering. I’m not sure why they cant scan the barcode on your wrist band instead of using a slip of paper between you all. It’s a rubbish system!!
In the dining room you then have to queue for a drink, one bar lady on her own trying to get through a continuous queue of people. I would suggest two people on the bar are needed.
The food selection was fantastic in my opinion for a 3 star. They were obviously catering for a mix of visitors from different countries but we could not fault the food in any way. They had oysters and champagne out for breakfast everyday if that’s your type of thing. The variety of food daily was very good with different things every day.
The drink system is a little over complicated where you get a token, to then get a cup for a drink but you can only get one at a time. Not has this before in any all inclusive although I can see how it stops cups being left everywhere and excessive drinking. If you lose your token it’s 50 cents for a new one.
The indoor pool and gym were very good although the gym has no air con!
The outdoor pool was fine but they say not sun bes reserving. That isn’t true, people put towels down all day and nothing is done about it. A slip of paper is put on them by the hotel saying not allowed to reserve but that’s it. No one’s towels are removed but they should be as there aren’t enough for everyone. We were lucky as we went there in the afternoons and managed to find a couple and dragged them together.
The drink selection is very good.
What unfortunately bought the experience down for us was how loud it was at night. We didn’t watch the entertainment but we did sit round the pool in the evening playing cards and having a few drinks etc . But well after midnight into the early hours there are kids screaming and fighting and playing around the pool outside, people shouting, one guy had his child in the kids pool at night, screaming a shouting every night down the hallways and the staff do nothing about it.
The shouting and screaming down the hallways was horrendous.
And this was every…single…night!!!! They have a security type chap in reception but we never saw him do anything.
There were parties in rooms until all hours and what is supposed to be a family hotel I was amazed at how the hotel did nothing to get people to quieten down at 2 in the morning around the pool. This made us all quite tired and not looking forward to getting some sleep as we knew the next night would be the same. The 1st floor hallway stank of weed for two days.
All in all, the hotel was nice but think they need to rein people in a little in the early hours as it is a family hotel and ask the party rooms to wind it in. The whole system getting into the dining room is odd and difficult for no reason."
