"First thing to point out with this “hotel” is it’s an apartment rental with a reception and pool – NOT your classic hotel. Think of it as an air bnb in a complex. What I mean by this is that there are no sheets or towels automatically provided but you can pay a fee (we paid 27 euro for 2 people) for them to be provided. You will have to make up your own bed, there are pillows with pillow cases already there (albeit 2 on the bed and 1 spare – I requested another so we could each have 2 but it never arrived so I used a sofa cushion underneath) 2 blankets are provided too. All smelt nice and clean – I can only hope the mattress protector already on the bed had been the freshly laundered. Both the sheets and towels were replaced weekly (delivered to your room). You could always hand wash towels if you so wish or even take a couple of sheets/towels with you or beach towels are so cheap they could be purchased at the resort and used and kept for future use. I stumbled across the sheet and towel issue by mistake AFTER booking (the travel agent did not point it out on the website) and at first I thought what have I done – what sort of hotel doesn’t have sheets/towels included! however I emailed the hotel direct to request them in advance – got a very quick pleasant response and they were in my room once I checked in and paid for them plus a small tourist tax fee and a 100 euro deposit (by card). We checked in late so the security guard dealt with us but was still all ok, just had to pop down in the morning to retrieve our passports once the reception staff processed everything on the computer. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Second to this there is no maid service for the whole length of your stay, personally I like this as I know nobody is coming so can have a lazy morning if I wish and effectively no-one should be going in and out of your apartment. There was a small tube of washing up liquid, cloth and sponge provided. When you run out of toilet roll (2 provided) you have to buy more – there are plenty of Michelangelo Supermarkets nearby – this is just as you would do in a rented apartment.
The bedroom didn’t have a TV as advertised (yet given 2 remote controls on check in so some must?) nor did it have a bath which was the fault of the travel agency as it said this was provided with the confort suite but not so - apparently no rooms have a bath. The Shower is nice though and I made do easily. There is a hairdryer provided but no full length mirror. Water was lovely and hot all the time, the air con is effective and quiet and the wifi is excellent with an individual code on a plaque on the wall.
The location is superb, short walk to beach (5 - 8 mins) and around 20 mins walk to PortAventura – easily do-able if fit and active.
The apartment had a kettle, toaster, hob, fridge freezer, microwave with grille, all cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs (very small!) coffee maker (only of use if you can find the correct capsules in the shops), pots and pans etc.
Restaurant on site but didn't use so can't comment (I believe breakfast if you included it is at a sister hotel 150m away).
The pool is small and cold (doesn’t get much sun) – our room overlooked it and we could hear the fountain running all the time if the door was open but was not annoying in my opinion. Plenty of sunbeds always available – pool wouldn’t be suitable for families in my opinion, I only used it once just so say I did, it was never busy. We were in room 402 and we have a double entry main door to our apartment, - I don’t think they all had this – it had a cupboard in the vestibule between the two doors where I think you could store suitcases (?) as there isn’t much room for them in the apartment without them being in the way. We found this very secure as needed the key card to get through both. We never really heard anyone going past or lingering outside it was really quiet at night – made for a great nights sleep if the BEDS WERE NOT SO DAMN HARD! Very difficult to get comfy – even contemplated sleeping on the sofa – which was comfy!
Nice balcony with clothes airer but sadly only got the sun in the evening for a few hours (pool side).
Safe – you have to pay to have it activated but as technically no-one should be coming into the room we just hid any valuables so not an issue.
Your room is checked on departure there and then – so allow time if awaiting transport – we got the thumbs up and are just awaiting the 100 euro refund – you must not leave dirty dishes and must take your rubbish to the bin just around the corner (I would suggest taking a couple of bin bags if staying a week or more). I stripped the bed too but not sure if you have to. I also wiped the floor and sink etc. just to ensure I got the full deposit back. You can, again, pay a fee if you want your room cleaned at any time/checkout.
The rooms are very clean with fresh and appealing décor – well maintained communal areas, 2 lifts. Our room lost power during one night but once reported in the morning was investigated and repaired in a short timeframe.
Would I return? – the only thing for me was the rock hard bed – for a short stay then yes I would without hesitation. I was there for 10 nights which was about my limit as found it was disturbing my sleep – such a shame as everything else meant for a perfect night’s sleep.
To sum up: clean, quiet, fantastic location, ideal for a couple/family who don’t necessarily spend time at the pool, want on-site entertainment but do want an undisturbed holiday with the means to make breakfast or even a meal in the comfort of your own very safe secure, quiet room."
