"A long review follows the summary below:
A nice apartment/hotel located in a lovely area of Valencia, with great staff and good service, nice food and drink and super animation team. The hotel common areas are renovated and nice places to be, the grounds are so pretty and well maintained, but the apartment furniture is dated but everything is very clean and the maids work hard to keep them that way. For a 3 star rated hotel, I would whole heartedly recommend it.
Please note: there were approximately 50 or so, beautiful stray cats, roaming around the resort in small family groups with kittens. I didn't see the hotel leaving out any food or drink for them and I presume they are not keen on seeing the cats roaming around, and might not be happy at seeing guests (like us) buying dry food and feeding them, and as there were few guests some looked very hungry, especially the younger ones who were bullied or chased away from food. It would be an amazing gesture from the hotel owners to consider either neutering the ones present if they can as many looked like they were interbreeding from the colour patterns and grouping or consider bringing in cat charities to try and rehome them ? They were no trouble and we loved interacting with them, but it broke our hearts coming away, thinking that as guest numbers reduce they might not be fed during the cold winter months.
Longer review:
Like others, I was a bit worried about the negative reviews on the site, but having returned home yesterday (29.11.25), I should not have been.
We stayed out of season and the hotel was very quiet and guest experiences in full season might be affected b review therefore y the sheer number of guests to attend to. My review therefore reflects our honest and unbiased experience.
We arrived lunchtime after early morning flight with TUI and reception took our suitcases, issued us with a security code and locked them away until we needed them in the mid afternoon.
Check in stated to be 17:00 but our apartment was ready before this. We had booked a standard apartment, and asked for a quite location on the ground floor, which we given in block K, situated about 30m from the side entrance into the bar/lounge area with a balcony view across the landscaped area onto other blocks. The gaps between the blocks have pathways, palm trees, exotic shrubs and planting. Outside areas were very clean. The hotel offers standard and premium apartments/rooms. The premium rooms have been updated but are more expensive.
The standard apartment furniture was dated but nothing was broken and it was very clean. All the windows including patio windows, opened to let the sunshine in and had louvered shutters to the exterior, which could be locked. The bathroom was large and had been updated in recent seasons. The shower was very warm and powerful.
We didn't use the kitchenette, as we were staying AL, but the fridge was larger than you find in some hotel rooms and looked to be fairly new. The cupboards contained all plates and cutlery, toaster and kettle etc. There was also a small electric hob and microwave.
The apartment had older electric heaters, which we didn't use, as the air handling cassette in the lounge provided cold air and warm air (up to 27 degrees if required). There is ample storage in both the bedroom and lounge area.
All of the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Many spoke multiple languages, although we did try and order drinks and such in Spanish.
Reception staff seemed busy working on computers when you passed them but were attentive when you needed help with something.
The bar staff were so nice, unfortunately we only remembered Maria's name who was always smiling and friendly. Drinks were served in glasses for internal areas and plastic for the pool area. They offered what appeared to be genuine quality brands in the AI and lager was AMSTEL and nice. A number of higher quality/more expensive branded spirits, cocktails and bottle beers were offered but on a paid for basis, but the selection was so good and the measures given were more than acceptable.
The lounge area was comfortable with a choice of seating, tables etc and TV showing various live sports. Evening entertainment was low key due to Season and the low numbers staying, but it was provided along with some daytime activities as well.
The animation team led by Manel, was probably some of nicest, non-pushy, hardworking, animation staff we have come across. The team that we met were Spanish and English and spoke multiple languages allowing all guests to take part in activities from Bingo, Quizzes, karaoke, staged games and food and drink experiences. Entertainment was provided every evening, on some evenings by external acts/shows brought in.
The hotel is branded as a sports resort and in reception there is a company offering bike hire, maintenance, trip advice and support. There were many cycle owners staying at the hotel with their own bikes. The hotel also has a sports (MUGA) to the rear.
The hotel also has a small aqua park, containing water slides and other water based fun areas, which opens April to end October, so was closed when we stayed, but looks cool. The outdoor pools are large and free form, containing fresh water. As it is winter, the areas around the pool were cleared of sunloungers and chairs and tables, but were there if you needed use of them. The standalone pool bar, cafeteria and themed restaurant building to the back of the pool area were closed as it was out of season.
The Hotel restaurant staff were again attentive and busy. A few of the reviews of the food quality have shocked me a little, as the evening menu's offered (during our stay) were themed every night and the food was always excellent and piping hot in the serving trays. It was sometimes cool by the time we had gone round choosing and adding to the plate - but that was our fault in taking time to sit down. The chefs and kitchen crew were always coming out restocking and making sure the food was well presented and hot.
The location of the hotel, is at the top of the road containing all the shops, bars, supermarkets, as you walk down to the beach/promenade.
Albir is a laid-back resort compared to neighbouring Benidorm, appearing to be a destination more for Dutch, French, German visitors and residents, along with Brits. The prices for food and drink were reasonable and everyone we met were again friendly and helpful.
The Bus service (Line 10 bus stops outside the hotel) and takes you to Benidorm or as far as Altea, in a loop with charges around 1.60 Euros per journey. You can walk to Altea along the prom., before heading up to the church and the bars and shops. The Prom. contains a number of nice bars and restaurants offering food and drink, close to the beach.
You have to change buses in Benidrom if you want to go further afield or use the tram service, the station of which is located about 1km's walk away near McDonalds and connects Alicante to the south and Denia to the north. We spent a half day in beautiful Calpe. Some of the tram stations are located a short distance from the beach resorts, but have bus services outside.
There is a taxi rank outside the hotel, charging standard rates based upon the distance travelled and metered.
The hotel offers free parking, 24 hour reception, A supermarket, is found directly opposite the hotel.
Highly recommended, but remember some of the standard apartments are currently dated but fine for the stay and it is a 3 star hotel."
