"This review is based on my stay of 11 nights, bed and breakfast at the M8 Hotel Osam, Milna , September2026. It includes observations, helpful information and possible recommendations.
After a 13 hour journey from Manchester to Milna with Jet2 holidays which included a coach from Split airport , a car ferry to Supetar and a coach and mini bus to get to the hotel. I was looking forward to my sea view room and the tranquility of the hotel. Staff were very attentive on my arrival and took my cases up the many steps. (Please note, if you have mobility issues this will be a problem as there are no lifts at this hotel). Reception staff were very pleasant and took our passports for clarification and presented the key to our room. Unfortunately, this room (104) was not to our liking as we had a view of a brick wall and not the sea which we had paid for. A quick workout down the stairs to reception to explain our room issues resulted in a no qualms change of room. New room on the 3rd floor (305) was much better than our original allocation. Now, let's talk about the sea views. I do not believe there are full sea views at this hotel, partial sea view, glimpse sea view perhaps. The trees have grown considerably since the original photos in the brochures that's for sure. So my advice is to check with your holiday provider or contact the hotel regarding your room view. My room (Partial sea view) was modern, clean with a very comfortable bed, a good size balcony and a quiet, excellent functioning air con. Tea and coffee facilities and a fridge are provided. Unfortunately there was no complimentary water on arrival and no milk supplied and after 13 hours of travel I thought it was unusual for a 4 star establishment not to have at least one complimentary bottle of water in the fridge. Also, if you like a nice cup of tea, I suggest you bring your own tea bags with you. The ambience of the hotel is very laid back and being adults only has it's benefits. A relaxed feel and a quiet undisturbed sleep was certainly welcomed. The layout of the hotel is quirky. As previously mentioned you will certainly get your steps in. The hotel is situated on a gradient and has a terraced layout. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy a drink whilst watching the boats filling up with fuel at the nearby petrol station. There is a cordoned section by the hotel for guests wishing to swim in the sea. However, the hotel is situated on a public right of way so do not be surprised to see locals and children swimming nearby. The hotel pool is freshwater and bracing but very welcomed in 34 degrees. Breakfast was served from 7.30 am until 10.30 am. This was a a self service breakfast. In my opinion it could have been better. Don't get me wrong, there is a mix of options to choose from and you will not go hungry. Lots of seeds, fresh fruit, pastries, cold meats, cheese, bread and salads.
However, broccoli and Brussels sprouts with a chopped up sausage and a well done fried egg wasn't for me as a hot option breakfast. Also, serve yourself coffee and tea machines are your go to for your hot drinks. Unfortunately the 2 machines did play up during my stay and one was out of order for 5 days. This did leave a few guests frustrated having to queue for their morning brew. The lunch time menu was good with a good selection of options as was the evening A la carte. I did sample a few dinners, the food was well presented, tasty and a hearty size portion. Drinks at the hotel included cocktails for around €10 to €12 euros. Wine varied from €28 to €60 euros a bottle. Be prepared to pay €8 to €12 euros for a glass of wine. Prices were reasonable and not much different from the restaurants in the main harbour of Milna. Having adopted the euro, Croatia has certainly become more expensive. The average cost for a 2 course dinner with with a bottle of water and wine was around €80 to a €100 euros. The majority of the food offered in Milna uses the same format. Fish, Meat, Pizza, Pasta, Gnocchi, Rissoto, Salad and Vegetables. As the saying goes "Same Menu, Different Venue" My time at the M8 Osma was enjoyable, it was very relaxing, the staff were very friendly , accommodating and helpful. As mentioned in my review there were a couple of issues but overall a very pleasant experience at this establishment.
Additional information that maybe useful?
One room key on arrival (non electronic) with safe key attached.
Room and Hotel details on card in your room which requires you to scan QR code.
( Please note. I was inundated with adverts and spam after implementation)
Hotel policy during my stay was that your room will not be cleaned after your first nights stay. I did question why. Hotel policy was the reply. Their website states that the rooms will be changed 6 days a week except for a Sunday this day in question was a Wednesday.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking....A real head scratcher for sure.
If you require beach towels you will need to collect them for a small charge. So basically you are hiring your towel at around €3 a day. The good news is the sunbeds are free and there are plenty of them.
The hotel reception can assist you in booking trips and sea excursions during your stay. They organised an excellent 10 hour boat trip for me which was superb value for money.
No mini bar. Fridge is empty, no complimentary water or milk provided. Coffee and tea facilities are provided but you may wish to contact reception or buy a pint of milk if you wish to have a hot drink in your room.
Reasonable prices in line with other restaurants regarding costs for meals and drinks.
Contact reception if you require help with your luggage on departure as it can be difficult to carry your luggage down from high floors. Also, if you depart before breakfast. The hotel will make up a lunch box for you at no extra cost. This was most welcomed and appreciated.
And last but not least the steps. As previously mentioned, there are quite a few of them. I counted 107 concrete and steel steps to the 3rd floor. So if you do have mobility issues it will be a problem. I advise all travellers to do their research before any trip or holiday. Forewarned is forearmed."
