"⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review of Maris Grand Hotel, Cyprus We stayed at the Maris Grand Hotel as a family of three — two adults and one child — for 12 nights. Overall, we had a good holiday, but there were definitely some highs and lows, and a few areas where the hotel could seriously improve. 📍 Location — 10/10 The location was absolutely fantastic. You’re around a 10-minute walk at most to the strip, which is packed with bars, restaurants and plenty to do in the evenings. It was really convenient and meant we could easily head out without having to rely on taxis or transport. 🛏️ Room — 10/10 The room was one of the best things about the hotel. It was very, very spacious, which made a huge difference when staying for 12 nights as a family. We also had a lovely sun-facing balcony, which was perfect for sitting out and enjoying the sunshine. No complaints whatsoever about the room. 🏋️ Gym — 0/10 Unfortunately, the gym was completely pointless. It was tiny, had hardly any equipment and, if you actually want to do any proper weight training, you’ll be disappointed because there are no heavy weights. To make matters worse, it doesn’t even open until 9am, which is ridiculous for a hotel gym in a hot country. If you like getting your workout done early before the heat kicks in, forget it. 🏊 Pool — 3/10 The pool was far too small for the number of guests staying at the hotel. It was constantly busy, and getting a sunbed became a daily battle. People were putting towels down as early as the night before, which says everything about the situation. If you weren’t up early enough, you had very little chance of getting a decent spot. The lifeguard situation also really needs looking at. To be fair, the lifeguards were all very polite, but I honestly felt that they weren’t doing the job they were there to do. My daughter hurt her foot after banging into another person when coming off the water slide. The lifeguards seemed to spend most of their time sitting under the umbrella rather than actively watching what was happening. The lifeguard position at the top of the slides also faces the wrong way, and in my opinion there should definitely be someone positioned at the bottom of the slide as well to make sure people are getting off safely before the next person comes down. When I was stung by a wasp, I asked the lifeguard for an antiseptic wipe — nobody had one. For a hotel pool with slides and children using it all day, I found that pretty shocking. There was also an uncomfortable interaction where one of the male lifeguards made a comment to my daughter which I felt was inappropriate and unnecessary. This is something management should be aware of and look into. 🍽️ Food — 5/10 The food was average. There wasn’t a huge amount of variety and after a while it became quite repetitive. That said, we always managed to find something to eat, even if sometimes it was a case of looking around and settling for something rather than finding something we genuinely fancied. It certainly wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t anything special. 🎤 Evening Entertainment — 3/10 (and that’s being generous!) This was probably one of the biggest disappointments. The evening entertainment was, honestly, very poor. Some of the singers were shocking, and there wasn’t much that made us want to stay and watch. The music quiz was by far the best bit and was actually something we really enjoyed. More activities like that would have been much better than some of the entertainment that was provided. 🍹 And then there was Ebru… — 10/10 ❤️ Without a doubt, the best thing about the whole holiday was Ebru, who worked on the bar at the children’s splash park. She is an absolute credit to the hotel and an incredible asset to the team. Every single day she was happy, friendly, welcoming and genuinely lovely. Nothing seemed too much trouble for her, and she always had a smile on her face. She remembered people, interacted brilliantly with the children and made the bar area a much nicer place to be. You can have all the facilities in the world, but it’s people like Ebru who can genuinely make a holiday memorable. She deserves recognition from management because she was fantastic. ⭐️ Overall We enjoyed our 12-night family holiday and there were certainly things we loved — particularly the location, the size of the room and the fantastic Ebru. However, there are areas where the hotel really needs to improve. The pool is far too small for the number of guests, the sunbed situation is ridiculous, the gym is basically unusable, and the evening entertainment needs a serious rethink. The lifeguard arrangements also need reviewing, particularly around the slides and general pool safety. Would we come back? Yes to Protaras. No to this hotel! For us, the hotel has the potential to be much better than it currently is."

"We had a lovely stay and really enjoyed our time here. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, with a special mention to Bill and Maria, who were both fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The all-inclusive was great, with good food and lots of variety, plus ice creams, coffees and plenty of options throughout the day. The rooms were great too, clean and comfortable. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely come back!"

"I’ll start with the positives: The hotel is recently refurbed, so stylish and modern - rooms are nice and we found them to be clean and decent sized even with a an extra bed / cot in ours plenty of space to move around. The food is as you’d expect for a budget all inclusive - all tasted fine but a bit repetitive by the end of a weeks’ stay. The drinks were also exactly as you’d expect. The staff customer facing were all lovely and really welcoming / engaging with kids - especially Ebru from the kids pool bar! The kids splash park and slides are great and sunny all day - although the big pool is too small as other reviews all say, by the time people put all giant inflatables in you could only really find a spot to float in, definitely no swimming and its got worse when the activities were in taking up more room. Now to the not so positive bits: The sun bed wars are ridiculous as the hotel shades a big chunk of the pool all day - people put towels down at the evening entertainment the night before and staff allow them to so they are all reserved stupidly early. We saw people reserving them during a 4am fire alarm evacuation (no joke!). The kids splash park is even worse, it opens 10am and we queued for 30+mins each day, front of the queue only to find most of the beds were already reserved …. We eventually realised people were lifting their kids over the wall at the front after pool hours to put towels down. Again, simple for management to solve by clearing all towels off on a morning when they do their checks before opening but they don’t bother which fuels the sun bed war. The main pool is swept and cleaned each day so always looks great, unfortunately the same can’t be said for the kids splash pool - we never saw it cleaned once in a week and the same multiple plastic fake toenails that had snapped off a resident remained blowing in the wind around the sides as long as our stay! The staff on the ground public facing are all lovely, really friendly and welcoming - but unfortunately management’s approach appears to be to deny any issue exists rather than communicate, we had a few examples in the week: - The pools opened with the water cloudy one day we couldn’t see the bottom of the kids pool. We asked them if they could check the levels, without looking the manager stated it is checked every morning and there is no issue. When we pushed to tell them to come out and look, sure enough there was an issue and it hadn’t been checked that day clearly. - The fire alarm went off at 4am, can’t be helped but the night staff didn’t communicate to any one and didn’t seem able to understand the fire panel. They even said it wasn’t their role to tell us we could go back inside and expected guests to pass the message via Chinese whispers ! Staff didn’t leave the reception desk to check the building and didn’t know how to turn the alarm off, just told us to ignore it and go back inside. Numerous residents had similar concerns to us not feeling safe. When we spoke with management the next day their initial stance was to tell us that we should not have evacuated when hearing a fire alarm without being told to do so, they said we should have just ignored it staying in the room with our two very young children (!!!) … again very defensive and no acknowledgment of our concern which was disappointing - Lastly a child pooed in the kids splash pool which closed the pool (understandable and can’t be avoided). The lifeguard was quick to act whilst also running the slides. It was initially due to be closed for 2hours, but when we went to ask management about 3-4hours later nothing had been done and only then did a cleaner turn up to start scooping it out. A lot of time wasted and guests lost most of the day from that pool as the main pool couldn’t cope. The hotel absolutely has potential to be a nice budget, family friendly all inclusive - but still some work to be done"
