Afitos Holidays

A Greek resort with plenty of charm

Though Afitos is on the Greek mainland, on the first ‘leg’ of Halkidiki, the atmosphere is so relaxed that it has serious island vibes. Perched atop a hill, with breathtaking views of the Toroneos Gulf, Afitos holidays can be spent enjoying both the beach and the mountains. Afitos village has a special charm, with typical stone houses, cobbled alleyways shaded by bougainvilleas, and well-preserved 19th-century mansions.

Thanks to a range of interesting shops and galleries, Afitos also has a more bohemian feel than some other Greek resorts. There are masses of tavernas that serve delicious northern Greek specialities, as well as an array of charming cafés and bars. When you’re ready to chill out, head down to one of two local beaches, both of which are attractive and well-organised. Wherever you look, holidays to Afitos will reward you with romance and beauty.

Your Afitos questions, answered

While it’s certainly not a destination for night owls, there are some bars in the village where international cocktails are served alongside traditional Greek drinks such as raki.
It’s a 10-minute walk from the village to the beach – but it’s uphill on the way back. If that might be hard-going for you, renting a car could be useful.
It draws a somewhat eclectic crowd, including families, groups and couples – all people who are looking for an arty holiday or for a Greek escape that’s laid-back and a little different.
