"I’ll start with the positives cause there’s only a few.. the hotel really took on board our special requests before we arrived and we had a spacious refurbished room with great size balcony, the pool area is nice, great location for the beach and main strip of protaras
Now for the negatives.. when we got to the room there was a big yellow stain on the pillow in my 1 year olds cot, no sheet to cover her, the pillows were flimsy so went to reception to ask for a clean pillow and some extra pillows to be told be Leena that ‘it’s not her job, she’s a receptionist’ and that we had to wait till tomorrow. Eventually she did fetch us a clean pillow but didn’t fetch any additional pillows. Any time I approached reception there was never a ‘hello’ or friendly welcome, at most I got ‘you need something?’ After standing waiting for minutes for her to look up from her phone.
The restaurant is the biggest issue in the hotel and by far where I encountered the most problems, the food was cold, not much choice at all, the hash browns one morning were actually still frozen solid. The food is cheap quality and food seems to be recycled the following meal, the drinks are just as disappointing as the food, warm beers and wines, watered down cocktails, spirits that taste like mouthwash and fizzy drinks flatter than the pillows in the rooms.
The majority of the restaurant staff are appalling and shouldn’t be working in hospitality at all. I brought a plate for my 1 year old from home as she’s still learning and I didn’t want risk her smashing the hotel plates, at breakfast I asked a waitress called Gurda if it could be washed and she said ‘no, not possible’ (this has never been an issue in any other hotel or restaurant I’ve eaten in), we spoke to Pascali the assistant manager and he assured us this wouldn’t be an issue moving forward only to find at lunch that a different waitress said no when we asked again for my daughters plate to be washed. I then asked to speak to the restaurant manager and was told no by 4 different staff member to the point I had to go find him myself, he also assured me that this would no longer be an issue. The following day meals were made uncomfortable as all the staff were staring, pointing and giving us dirty looks, one waitress tried to shove a family member out of the way when she had nowhere to move to and then told her to ‘f*** off’. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant is extremely poor, tables not cleaned or reset after people leave, high chairs not cleaned, the high chair I used at breakfast was still left at the table we’d sat when we went to lunch, scruffy floor and just generally not hygienic.
One of the staff on the bar actually shouted at us one evening as we’d asked for some ice and he said ‘I hear you’re not happy with us here’ when we questioned what he said he just said ‘forget it’ and waved his hands
Room not cleaned properly, plates left scattered on the hallways for days, I witnessed a maid sat eating in someone’s room, maids can be seen sprawled along the corridors scrolling on their phone
I would say the evening entertainment was embarrassing but it’s actually non existent, mini disco is just a woman dancing to a playlist off a laptop.
Good luck if you’re a wheelchair user or you have a child still in a pushchair as there are ramps but they’re so far spaced out that it takes forever to get from one place to another, I don’t think I came across any baby changing facilities and I only saw one accessible toilet
When we spoke to a manger about all the issues he offered to move us to a different hotel as all inclusive guests, we declined as we didn’t want to waste a day of our holiday packing and unpacking and we booked the hotel specifically for the location, we was more than happy to eat out to avoid using the restaurant.. this also felt like he just wanted to get rid of us rather than address the issues. He then offered us use of the facilities and all inclusive at the sister hotel (the Odessa) but without moving rooms which was hugely appreciated and was a great resolution
The only people I can thank out of the hotel he hole staff team is Christos, Christos and Petkana who were always friendly and very helpful with the issues we had."
