"Honest review- Family friendly hotel.
Entertainment- Great animation team (Jackie and Mario especially) kept us busy during the day with archery, Zumba, aqua gym, stretching, volleyball, darts, games etc but not pushy at all. Evening entertainment was ok we didn’t watch all the shows, could have done without karaoke as it gets really noisy and goes on a bit too long!
Rooms - Some were nice and renovated some more dated with older bathrooms. Newer style of room is lovely and spacious with balcony but we still had a few issues with wobbly toilet seats and shower heads. Staff were always helpful though so please just ask if there are any problems as they get sorted straight away.
Food - Very basic, they do have plenty of choice, just not really to our liking. That said, we expected this from a Muslim country we didn’t expect westernised food especially as lots of nationalities stay here, so you just make do and get by, there’s always something. Cereals are like cardboard so we took our own. Lots of pastries to choose from, fresh eggs and omelettes, the streaky pork (bacon) was awful as expected it’s a Muslim country! Freshly squeezed orange juice every morning was a bonus though.
Lunch and dinner was a mixed bag, most dishes were kind of tasteless to be honest and the desserts like eating fresh air (not sure if ingredients are harder to come by) probably?! Meat of a lower quality and not much for fussy eaters, we did speak to the manager about the food and the head chef sat down with us to listen to our feedback as they were truly interested in trying to improve. I would suggest better cereal, perhaps adding granola and nicer yoghurts, lunch needs things like burgers/toasties/hotdogs for kids, evening meals needs better quality meat and maybe salmon/tuna as an option. They do have a pasta station but again the sauces were just so so bland. Pizzas everyday and ice cream were fine too.
Drinks - The beer was ok (hubby said so) other than that the drinks were the usual cheap branded stuff and cocktails were not great. Milkshake would be a good addition or syrups to make them as they only had grenadine! Coffee machines were fine and fizzy drinks but the alcohol options weren’t great. Need a cheap version of Malibu or amaretto!!
Pool and beach area - pool is absolutely freezing!! Lots going on but the music is always blasting out too loud just needs to be turned down a little bit so people can talk to each other or rest. Waiters round the pool serving drinks to you was a nice plus and thick cushions on the loungers were great!
Beach is stunning with very soft powdery sand, lovely blue sea which was flat calm in the mornings as the weather was hot. Big shoutout to Moez at the beach bar, we will miss him!
Parts of the hotel look a bit run down like the wiring sticking out everywhere above your heads!! The carpets need replacing on the corridors too, but we got a bargain so we can’t complain as the lobby and outside areas are kept very clean and security are great, we always felt safe there.
Hotel Shop - don’t use the hotel shop the guy is extremely rude, we bought sweets and asks for the change to be in coins for the pool table so the kids could play and he was really awful and nasty to us so I gave him his sweets back and told him where to go. All other staff were excellent apart from him!
Money - if you purchase Tunisian Dinar from the airport is best but KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! Then if you need to change any dinar back to GBP you have to give in your receipt as proof of purchase at the airport bank as you can’t take any Tunisian dinar out of the country!
We gave tips to all the staff that looked after us and it’s very much appreciated they work long hours and really look after you with big smiles so please be kind.
Definitely would come back, it’s a short flight from the UK, a few things could be improved but for the price we paid it was a bargain in the sun and we loved the people."
