"This is an honest review of Numa Bay Hotel Alanya. Firstly the negatives. Jet2 are keen to stress that this is a 4-star+ resort with an all-inclusive+ package included in the deal. This is definitely not an all inclusive plus. The branded drinks all-inclusive plus aspect of the experience was very poor, with really poor quality cocktails that were often ready-made with pre-mixed ingredients and some ingredients that were incorrect. For example, my wife ordered the gin and tonic, and she was served gin with ginger ale, which is very unusual. Only the lobby bar was serving branded drinks, and this had to be specially requested. For example, I asked for a Baileys drink, only to be served a really cheap alternative initially. On requesting the branded version, they got it from the cupboard at the back of the bar area. Whisky drinkers were well-catered for with branded whiskies, but there was only one house white wine and red wine, which were poor quality, and “champagne” was a cheap Prosecco. Although drinkable, it didn't feel special at all. This was a big let down for us as we really enjoy sampling various cocktails on the menu when doing all inclusive holidays. The only other real negative about the hotel was the layout of the hotel area, which was a narrow slither of land where everything felt quite compact and didn't give you a spacious feel and an exclusive feel that you’d expect from the description. Neighbouring hotels were very close by next to the perimeter of Numa Bay Hotel, and you could often hear the entertainment and the music from those venues as well. We often enjoy a coastal walk when on holidays in a beachfront location. Unfortunately, this wasn't an option as there was no walkway along the coast - there was no coastal path at all. The hotel itself is also located near various shopping malls offering fake goods like handbags, clothing and shoes. This can be deemed a positive for some people, but the area was quite run-down with not much else on offer.
Now moving on to the positives. Numa Bay offers really nice buffet food with plenty of choice. There were themed nights. They were also themed days with an Oktoberfest day, which had various foods and drinks and a huge buffet-style outdoor selection. It was really cool, and the family enjoyed. There's daily fresh flatbread on offer, as well as freshly made waffles and chicken kebabs also on offer daily in one of the smaller bar areas. There were some slides that the kids enjoyed regularly, and although the water temperature of the pools was slightly on the cold side, I must say that the sea was quite warm and a comfortable temperature with a small jetty within the bay acting as a nice entry and exit into the sea to relax during the day. We decided to pay for an additional à la carte at the Steak House, which was really good quality food. My wife really enjoyed the ribeye steak which were proper cuts of meat, and the service was good as well. General service was really good with a good understanding of English, although they are catering for mainly Russian holiday makers, there were no communication issues. We have had this before at other Turkish resorts. We were kindly upgraded to a full sea-view room, which was supposedly a family room. Although the camp beds given were on the small side for our 7 and 11 year-olds, nevertheless, they slept quite comfortably. There were also some nice touches in the room with rose petals and towels laid out on the bed, and also some macarons and soft drinks supplied in the fridge. There was always a nice atmosphere around the hotel which made you feel comfortable and safe. We took a bus to Alanya to see the castle and the shopping area in Alanya. We used the local bus, which was an experience as this was full and we were standing due to the overcrowding. It felt slightly dangerous. This was obviously a cheap traveling option and was quite enjoyable for the kids. The bus stop to Alanya is located near the overpass near the main road. This was a little bit difficult to find, but once we located it, was no problem, and the bus service was efficient. We used Get Your Guide to book a half-day trip for a family hammam Turkish baths experience, where we had a Turkish massage and treatments. This was really enjoyable, although they were quite pushy to upgrade to a gold package. The increased package included a full hour massage for the adults. The children enjoyed the jacuzzi and fish pedicure and the total cost was about £110 for the whole family for this experience, which included the massages for the adults. I would highly recommend this experience. Transfers and airport experience through Jet2 were on time and very efficient. The transfer time of two hours to the airport is slightly on the long side but due to the vastness of the resorts and distances from the airport, I think this is fairly standard. In conclusion, we had a fantastic time at Numa Bay Hotel. The price of the package holiday was extremely reasonable and we would give the whole experience a solid 8 out of 10."
