"Having looked forward to a nice, relaxing, few days away, it wasn't quite what we expected.
Arrived at 11pm on the first day, AI options close at 11pm, so no drinks or food available. Nothing in the room, no kettle or water, not even a facility to make your own tea or coffee.
The room itself was set up with two separate single beds, either side of the room, not what you would expect when it's just booked for a couple.
The room itself, although fairly clean, was well outdated. Broken electric socket, the WiFi router was just lay on the floor with all the various wires coming to and from. No signal at all for the TV.
Despite a late visit back to reception to report the problem, there was no option of any change of room or upgrade.
The following morning continued to show signs of what we were in-store for. The shower was cold, which stayed the same for the 3 days were there. When trying to use the old hairdryer, still connected to the wall, it was obvious this wasn't working either. Not sure how old the hairdryer is but just pointless.
Having revisited reception to ask about the TV, ask about the water temperature etc, we were not the only ones complaining. We were told an engineer would repair or replace the TV whilst we were out, with a further explanation for the cold water being to blame the recent storm and flooding they had experience prior to us arriving. Although, having checked previous reviews, the cold showers seem to have been an issue long before the storms. We were told the hotel had recently installed a new boiler system and it was all taking time. Just something else we literally had to just get on with.
Another day gone and no answer with regards to the TV being repaired or replaced. Later in the evening, having revisited reception again, we were told it was a router / WiFi problem and external engineers would have to be called out to resolve the issue. I'm quite sure it was another issue, ongoing long before we arrived for our 'relaxing' stay.
Another evening, another issue, just as well we were in the room getting ready to go out at the time.
Water started seeping into the bathroom, pouring down the mirror, onto the floor, causing a large pool of water on the bathroom floor.
On checking outside, it was clear there was an issue in the room above. Water coming through the walls and ceilings, pouring down over the door frame. Yet another visit to reception to notify them of yet another issue. Thankfully, the water was stopped and we were advised that housekeeping would be attending to clean up the pools of water. Having used all the towels in the room to minimise the water from spreading, mopping up the pouring water coming into the bathroom, it was no real shock when housekeeping didn't arrive. We only had fresh towels when I went out to ask a member of housekeeping staff, on a different floor, for clean towels myself.
The final area of concern for us was the cleanliness of the restaurant area. Although the food was ok, typical All Inclusive options, the one area where we sat one evening, near the sliding windows was unclean. Food stains going up the door frame, bits of food, dust, and whatever else clearly left lying in the channels of the sliding windows. Not ideal when you want to enjoy your meal. The restaurant was busy at the time so we had little option to move elsewhere, again, just a case of getting in with it, not so much relaxing.
With regards to the drinks options, the only beer/larger available as an All Inclusive option is San Miguel. Ok if you like it, but not so good with no other options apart from shorts or cocktails.
I appreciate we didn't pay a huge amount for a short, relaxing holiday, but our poor experience certainly didn't meet our expectations from photos of the hotel prior to booking.
It's definitely on our list of a hotel to avoid and not return to in the future.
Maybe as a goodwill gesture, the one and only positive aspect, if it can be referred to as a positive, was the gesture of a later checkout on the day we left. Usually 11am, extended our room to 1pm, but again, hardly any comfort afforded as the shower was cold so it was pointless. We were happy to leave to get back to home comforts."
