"Location is great. Right next to bars and restaurants outside the hotel itself. We drove there from the airport in a hire car and it was easy to find.
The Evenia is full of a certain type of British person - when I say "Tattoos and Tetley", you'll know what I mean. Lots of nationalities though, which is always refreshing, hate being in a hotel when its just us and a load of fellow Brits. Feels so uncultured. But Evenia doesn't feel that way - plenty of Germans, French and Spanish.
The hotel and rooms themselves are just a bit dated - could do with an upgrade, but honestly, we're not the type of family to care much about a luxurious bathroom - if its clean and all works, we're all grand. We didn't have enough towels though - 2 x large towels and 2 hand towels isn't really enough for a family of 4.
Bedding had the previous occupant's hair in the sheets and blankets - which made me feel a bit icky. Other than that, beds were fine. Rooms were comfy - beware of mozzies getting in though, as soon as you open that balcony door - its like they're ready to pounce!
Food - day one, and day two, you're like "Oooh this is nice, plenty of choice!" By day 4, you're no longer impressed and everything that needs oil to deep fry, tastes the same - ie. they clearly don't change the oil between each cook/day. For example, the chips taste fresh day one, by day 3 they're awful, you can tell they haven't changed the oil... then day 4 all of a sudden, the chips taste good again. Not that I ate a load of chips, but my beige-food-loving child definitely did! They clearly use the same oil for the chicken nugget and even the donuts! They clearly attempt to save money by re-using the oil a lot. And you can taste it.
Its weird to say that everything tastes the same... but it kind of does. Its so odd. And they re-use a lot of left over food for the next day (which is fine, I'll all about minimizing waste) - so the "chilli beef" for the nachos in the snack bar, clearly old mashed up burgers from the day before. The mash potato in the main restaurant was gross - clearly made out of left over chips! It literally tasted of chips! The snack bar has a lot of food uncovered, for hours on end. This means flies are all over it, especially the cheese and meats.
Drinks - great. Couldn't fault them to be honest. Endless soft drinks and water on tap, I don't think I saw a queue longer than 3 people for the outdoor pool bar, in the entire time I was there, which for August is good! I didn't see a queue in the day time, for any other bar, the entire week! Really happy staff, happy to help. Nice wine selection in the main restaurant at dinner and lunch too.
The slides are fantastic! Beware though, I injured myself, you come down them so quickly, you hit the water at a speedy pace! My kids spent a large majority of the holiday on these slides! Also, I know it sounds daft but I believe this is why my daughter (very fair skinned) got burnt! I put so much factor 50 on her, its stupid, I was constantly doing it - yet I believe the slides wash it off very rapidly - as you come down and hit the water so fast, it almost pressure washes it off!
Overall - a very pleasant and happy holiday was had by all four of us."
