"My sister and I spent three days in Amsterdam and highly recommend the Max Brown hotel in the canal district. We’ll never stay anywhere else when we visit. The location was absolutely perfect, both as a home base for wandering around Jordaan and the canal district and beyond but also for getting to and from the train station quickly. It felt very safe and secure with someone always at the front desk. Our room and hotel common areas were very comfortable and housekeeping was thorough. Breakfast was healthy and delicious.
But what made our experience even better was how hotel staff went above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating. On our last night, I dropped my wedding ring down our shower drain at 10pm on a Sunday night, and the staff members at the front desk bent over backwards to help: calling and texting their manager, finding tools on site, fashioning a clothes hanger into a hook, climbing in the bathtub to try to help us get it out for half an hour.
Eventually I hired a 24/7 plumber to come who was successfully able to retrieve the ring, but if they hadn’t the hotel had already planned to shut the room down just in case to housekeeping and future guests until another plumber was able to try again during the daytime and mail my ring back via certified mail (if successful).
I cannot recommend this hotel and their front desk team highly enough. They were responsive, calm, kind, and diligent. They were patient and communicative and ending up being instrumental in both resolving a potentially heartbreaking situation and averting a disastrous end to our visit to Amsterdam. Save yourself the hours of internet research and just book this hotel already for your trip to Amsterdam.
Thank you again for your help, for so many reasons I will never forget this experience!"
