Grand Hotel Vesuvio

"This is a really good hotel and resort with many positive points: - the hotel food is excellent, of restaurant quality and well presented . I have stayed in 4 star all-inclusives where after a week, I was getting bored with the vast choice and cafeteria vibe. At the vesuvio despite the fixed menu (with several options), the quality of the food at the evening meal is such, that I was never tempted to eat anywhere else. Breakfasts have fairly limited choice of items, but it is all good. This is the best Italian food that I have tasted. The service in the evening is provided by waiters at the table - classy. - the pool is large, well maintained and there was no shortage of sun beds at any time. No need to rush for the pool at the start of the day. - the staff are very professional. They are friendly without being intrusive and the quality of the service at meals and in the bar is flawless. - I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices of drinks at the bar and in the resort. I never thought that we were being scalped at any time. - The rooms cannot be criticised - everything is good, with good availability of lifts - The shuttle service between the hotel and resort is very convenient and punctual. There was never any shortage of seats on the transport, although the service does stop between 1 and 4 - The views from the hotels elevated position are stunning - Sorrento is lovely with an excellent vibe and the people are friendly and helpful. Unlike Turkish resorts, there is no hassling of customers in the shops or sharp pricing practices. On one occasion, we made a mistake and paid a bar bill twice - the staff member pointed it out, which would not happen in many places. The only bad point point about the hotel is the restricted access on foot to the resort. The centre of Sorrento is about 20 minutes walk away, but about half of that is along a busy road with no pavement and sharp bends restricting visibility. It is possible to walk into the resort, but one has to be very careful indeed. The hotel is suited to adults of a certain age (no discos or pool side entertainment). The evening entertainment is relatively low key - piano singers etc. There were children staying at the hotel, but teenagers would probably find it a little boring. Basically, the hotel clientele is 40 plus, so some people might find it a little staid. All in all - a wonderful holiday and a marvellous hotel"

"We had a lovely holiday at The Grand Vesuvio , the views are amazing . The staff were pleasant (except one grumpy older man called Guiseppe who was quite rude) the housekeeping team did a great job , the rooms were spotless with regular fresh towels and bed linen. A special mention to Brixton in the bar he is a credit to the hotel, service with a smile ! The outside bar terrace was lovely, inside the furniture is a bit tired looking though Lovely background entertainment each evening. The swimming pool was a great size and perfect temperature."

"We visited the Grand Hotel Vesuvio for the first time at the end of May 2026 and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. This was our 4th time in Sorrento but first at this hotel. The staff were polite and very helpful. The hotel was clean throughout including the pool area and gardens. We were half board, the breakfast was delicious serving a variety of egg choices if you asked. The evening meal choices were varied and again delicious. The pool area was spacious with plenty of available sun beds, the pool itself was very clean. The bar area is perfect for relaxing in the evening with a drink and entertainment. There is a regular return shuttle bus into Sorrento which is very useful for visiting the town. Select a sea room view room if you can, the views are amazing. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be returning soon. Thank-You to all the staff for giving us such a wonderful holiday experience. We will see you again soon."
