"Gorgeous hotel in the centre of Edinburgh with a load of character. Room was spacious and very clean; we had a superior room. Staff were helpful without being intrusive. Walking distance to everything."

"Some people might like the central location of this hotel, since you step out right into the city center, but the noise from outside makes sleep impossible. The buses rumble by every 30 seconds, which lasts well past midnight. And then there are all the drunk people walking by outside until 3-4 in the morning. After they pass out somewhere, you may be lucky to get two hours of sleep before the buses begin their morning routes. If you value sleep at all, do yourself a favor and pick a hotel at least a few blocks away from the city center. The hotel staff were kind and helpful, but not particularly knowledgeable when I asked questions about the bus route to visit something outside the city. I was relieved to only stay here one night before moving to a quieter hotel for the next two nights."

"Old hotel; needs a little updating. Location is great but expect constant noise from the streets and glass pick ups. The outlets next to bed, can only be used for the lamps do you can not plug and charge your smart phones or anything with an adapter. Bedding, no extra blankets. Breakfast is ok… needs. Better temperature control in the buffet. Bacon and sausage were cold . Restaurant food is microwaved not cooked to order or it is was cooked it was over cooked. Hotel has a grear location but it is old, which there’s no easy access from Main Street, the elevator is slow and small so you do need to be able to walk up stairs. No water provided needed to go to bar for water. Better hotels sane location"
