"The location is perfect; Edinburgh was our last travel destination and we were already very tired of carrying so many things, and it was a blessing since the hotel is 10 minutes from the train station, you don't have to climb stairs or go through narrow hallways, it's a straight line, you cross the street and you are already there, very well located for the main attractions, everything within walking distance and there is no way to get lost, you just look for the Scott Monument and you know the hotel is less than 20 meters away, public transport and the tram pass right outside the hotel.
Upon arriving, you enter a lobby and take the elevator or the stairs to access the front desk. They served us very kindly (the girl at the front desk was not wearing a name tag, so I don't have her name); they gave us the room on the 7th floor (we checked in around 15:30), the hallway to the rooms is a small labyrinth, however, it is very well marked, it is just a matter of paying attention.
The room is true to how it is shown in the images on the hotel's website; I had contacted them a few days before to request additional pillows, which were already in the room when we checked in; likewise, and as a WOW factor, they left me a congratulatory card for my engagement (since it happened on this trip) and an amenity of 2 complimentary drinks at the hotel bar; thank you very much for the gesture.
The room, as I mentioned, is comfortable; it has a closet, a hair dryer, and as amenities, there is a variety of teas, 2 bottles of drinking water, instant coffee and its complements, and of course, the coffee maker. The bed is quite comfortable, as are the pillows; the armchair and the desk are quite practical for leaving day-to-day items. The balcony is of a considerable size for sitting and appreciating the beautiful view of the city in the morning, afternoon, or night.
The bathroom is a good size, it only has a shower (we had already gotten used to the bathtubs in the other hotels); the only drawback is that it does not have an organizer or shelf to put bath products like shampoo, soap, etc., so we put them on the floor; hot water was always available and with very good pressure.
The reservation included breakfast, so we made use of it before going out on a tour, and one day for dinner; the staff was very friendly and efficient; a complete breakfast with eggs, ham/bacon, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, a cold cuts station, a variety of cheeses, chopped fruit, yogurt, cereals, milk, juices and infused waters, a variety of breads and sweet breads, a coffee machine, and a variety of teas.
At dinner, the service is personalized as it is à la carte, the waiters are more attentive, there is more interaction with the diners; I am not disparaging the breakfast service, just marking a difference between one service and the other.
Since I work in the hotel industry here in Mexico, those subtle differences are noticeable; however, we did not feel poorly served, there was a greeting and a smile during the interactions, cordiality and kindness from the staff wherever we encountered them, clean facilities with a quite pleasant aroma; in short, an excellent and memorable stay."
