"A lovely stay in a proper London hotel – fantastic bed, great room and views
We had a really enjoyable stay at the Marble Arch Hotel. It feels like a proper hotel, rather than just somewhere to sleep, and overall we were very impressed.
Check-in was pleasant and straightforward, and our Executive Room was excellent. We had a lovely view overlooking Marble Arch, and despite the hotel’s very central location, we experienced no problems with outside noise at all, which was a pleasant surprise.
The Executive Lounge is a lovely touch with drinks at your fingertips and snacks.
The room itself was comfortable and nicely presented, with a lovely waterfall shower. My only criticism would be that, for an Executive Room, I expected a slightly better selection of bathroom amenities. There was no body lotion or shower cap, for example, which I would normally expect at this level.
The complimentary minibar items were a lovely touch. We had three bottles of water, three cans of Coke, a small bag of popcorn, a small bottle of white wine and two bottles of beer. It was a nice little extra and definitely appreciated.
But the bed deserves a special mention! It was genuinely the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. It felt incredibly luxurious and made for a fantastic night’s sleep.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice: an omelette station, the usual hot breakfast items, cold meats, fruit, waffles, pancakes, pastries, cereals, juices, tea and coffee. There was something for everyone and the selection was perfectly decent, although I wouldn’t say it was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. One slightly amusing thing was how keen the staff were to clear plates—you could barely get up to go for another serving before someone was ready to whisk your plate away! 😂
The biggest downside was definitely the lifts. There are four lifts serving a LOT of guests, and at busy times they became extremely crowded and there could be quite a wait. We also found the staircase arrangement frustrating, as the stairs didn’t allow us to exit directly onto the first floor, where reception, breakfast, the bar and the main exit are located. This meant that using the stairs wasn’t really a practical alternative to the lifts.
Overall, though, we had a lovely stay. The location is fantastic, the room was comfortable and quiet, the view was beautiful and that bed was absolute luxury! With a few improvements to the Executive Room amenities and, ideally, the lift situation, this would be an even better experience.
Overall, a very good hotel and somewhere I would happily stay again!"
