"The hotel is fine, but overpriced for what it offers. I have stayed here before and had an excellent experience, although this visit felt like staying somewhere entirely different.
The reception team were not particularly welcoming at check-in, with no greeting or even a smile. I then used a lift that was not functioning properly, which took me to the roof and back down, meaning I had to find another lift to reach my floor.
The room itself was on the smaller side, but acceptable. The sheets were clean, although there were a couple of strands of hair on them and a stained pillow. This did not bother me greatly, but I appreciate that some guests would find this off-putting. The television felt dated, with limited channels, no smart features, and some built-in channels and radio options that did not work, which was frustrating. There was also no complimentary water in the room or fridge, which was surprising given the price point and the hotel’s Hilton Curio branding.
The gym was extremely small, with very limited space. The cardio equipment felt outdated, and there was only a single bench available, which made it difficult to complete a proper workout.
There was no shower gel in my room. I stayed for two nights and requested this from reception on three separate occasions, but it was never provided, which was disappointing.
The hotel’s main strengths are its location and the breakfast. The breakfast itself was very good, and the service staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which was appreciated.
On checking out, I was not asked how my stay had been. The reception staff were also noticeably rude and abrasive towards the guests they were serving before me, including tutting at them, which was uncomfortable to witness and left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Overall, even the positives do not justify the cost. I do not think I will stay here again on future trips, which is a real shame as I greatly enjoyed this hotel on my previous visit."
