"An honest review from a real UK family.
Spent a week here in August 2025 family of 4, 2young children from the UK.
In summary would I go back here? Nope.
The holiday started in the worst way possible. We arrived at 11 pm only to find the hotel didn’t have our reservation that was booked through Thomas Cook. Without going into too much detail, I found the staff unhelpful and very blasé about the whole situation despite the stress we were all clearly under. To make matters worse they kept disappearing and I kept having to look for them and remind them of the predicament we were in.
The insisted we need to pay for three nights upfront before they would let us stay! At the advice of the Thomas Cook online help desk we decided to pay for one night until it’s sorted the following day, which it was, they just made the entire thing very stressful. As a side note, it took them seconds to take the money but full 7 days to return it. Talking to a few guests it seems this is not unusual as money in their account equal’s interest.
We booked a standard room which turned out to be something from the 1970s Costa del Sol. Outdated, garish colours and we made a mistake of moving the beds so got to see the inches and inches of thick dust behind and under the bed.
Wasn’t spending a week there so upgraded the following day to a much nicer room for an extra cost of 25 euros per night. That room was lovely, modern and clean.
The upgrade also comes with a VIP breakfast option. It means you can eat your breakfast in peace, away from the rest of the riff raff in the Italian restaurant.
Best investment I made on this holiday. Would strongly suggest doing this.
Some of the drawbacks of the hotel would be there are very few lifts in the hotel. In fact, we only found one that served our massive block, which makes life with a double buggy very difficult and ensures you walk considerable distances just to get back up your room from the pools or restaurants
The pools close way too early. The best time to go in the pool is late afternoon/early evening when the sun becomes bearable but 6pm sharp, all the pools shut. They literally shout you out.
Whilst there is an abundance of restaurants it’s odd how the food seems to taste the same in every place, day in, day out. Edible but very bland.
If you’re booking this for the beach, please don’t. The beach barely exists and the water is so far out, it’s just not worth it. No exaggeration, 20+ minute walk from the beach to the water.
The Aqua Park was a disappointment too. It’s only good for adults or very young children. My six-year-old wasn’t allowed to go in the main aqua park because it wasn’t quite tall enough which really spoiled the whole holiday. He was way too big for the baby section so ending up not using anything at all. Also, all the slides involve having to lug something up a tall metal staircase in 40+ degree heat as the slides cannot be used by simply sliding down on your bum. I mean how ridiculous is that!
There are shops within the hotel which are expensive but the worst experience by far is if you leave the hotel and go to the shops just on the main road. The shopkeepers are all absolute crooks. They will try to deceive you or scam you in every possible way and they all work together.
My suggestion would be not to go here. Which is a real shame because you want to help the locals, but they just take the mick to such an extent that you just want to run away. If you need to purchase something, go to the nearby mall as it’s fixed prices in the big supermarket. The prices are less than half of what they want in the local shops.
The hotel effectively closes at 10 pm. It’s nigh on impossible to get anything to eat after this time. There is a bar that supposedly provides sandwiches, but the sandwiches are nothing more than stale bread and dried out cheese so if you’re landing after 10 pm, please eat first before you get to the hotel.
The restaurants close at about 9 pm and I mean 9pm. If you happen to be still eating, the staff will literally take away your plates whilst you’re still eating. The lights in the restaurants start to be turned down 8.45/50 and a whole group of staff will surround your table and watch you, waiting for the clock to strike 9pm.
There is supposedly a part of the restaurant that re-opens between 10 and 11pm but that’s only useful if you like bread and butter as no actual food seems to be available.
The cleaners and the lifeguards do a good job especially if you tip them, which we did. The lifeguards also appreciate it if you bring them a bottle of water or a drink because it seems like they are not allowed to ask for refreshments despite the heat that they’re sitting under.
The guys that keep the toilets clean around the pool area, again we tipped, because they do a really good job and quite honestly, they look so downtrodden and poor. So, if anyone deserves your tip, it’s these guys.
Finally, the hotel doesn’t have any vacuum cleaners. Cleaners don’t have access to any either. Most of the rooms have small carpet pieces in them but these are shaken clean by the cleaners, so always look slightly grubby.
It was by no means a holiday from hell, and I appreciate this review reads very negatively but for me the question I always ask is would I go back here? And the answer is no. Next time I think I’ll stick to Turkey as if nothing else, at least they don’t charge a silly price just for a visa."
