Dogan Hotel

"Reasonable stay at the Dogan Hotel. As the pictures show, it is a building in the traditional Ottoman style. I believe it is several, separate buildings merged to form this hotel plus some new additional buildings which retained the traditional style and feel. Lots of nooks & crannies with nice shaded area's give the hotel a very traditional feel nestled as it is within the delightful old town of Antalya. Pool area is small but very attractive and a lovely area to relax. External restaurant area is also a lovely place with an excellent and reasonably priced bar. Position. Situated a short walk from the harbour and in a perfect position to explore the old town. Very little traffic navigates the tight old town streets. Just the odd essential delivery & taxi. Small supermarket nearby and all the bars & restaurants you could wish for. Room. We had one of the premium rooms (forget the actual name the hotel calls them). Had a terrace and was a nice size. Shame the bathroom was so small? Bed very comfortable and reasonable furnishings. Kettle & fridge included. Is a tv but it is not a smart model so only BBC world news available in English. Cleanliness. Quite acceptable considering the nature of the old building. bathrooms very clean. Towels & sheets very good. Staff. Most just going about their daily work without engaging with guests and clearly going through the motions although a few are very friendly and enjoy their work. Food. We were on B&B board basis. Breakfast was the usual offerings. Nothing exceptional but quite acceptable. We chose to eat lunch & dinner here on the odd day and found the food very good. Generous portions and very professionally presented & prepared. Negatives. Lots and lots of stairs here. It is part of its character and charm but be prepared if you have any sort of mobility issue or have pushchairs etc. No chance at all if you are wheelchair bound. No lifts at all. In fact the whole town has lots of steps and steep slopes if you wish to properly explore and enjoy the old town. At night, Antalya turns into a very noisy party town. Great if that's what you are looking for but at 60, those days are long gone for me. The noise is everywhere in the old town with throbbing bass booming out till just before dawn most nights. Didn't annoy us but even with windows closed, the noise was impossible to escape if that is an issue for you. So plenty to commend the hotel for. Nice place to be and very peaceful during the day if not at night. We enjoyed our stay and would visit the hotel again."

"I stayed at this hotel with my husband, accompanying my brother who had not travelled abroad before. Both my husband and I have stayed in Kaleici, and it's a good base if, as my brother was, having dental surgery. Short visits only apply here as facilities are limited. The hotel services are mixed, comfy beds, Excellent A/C, dodgy shower, broken safe, food plain, simple, and repetitive . Attentive ancillary staff. Bar closes at 10pm though After paying my hotel extras bill of £370. I was then told I owed for a bottle of water from the mini bar! 40TL about 70p I asked why it hadn't been included in the bill I had just paid. No answer just a demand as we were leaving with taxi waiting. My brother had also spent £280 in extras. They have just lost a booking in March when my brother returns for completion of dentistry. It spoiled a pleasant stay!!"

"last minute booking for 3 night stay , excellent service from start to finish . every single member of staff friendly & helpful . the room lovely spotlessly clean, up a steep flight of stairs but okay for myself as an able solo adult . amazing views from the balcony & facilities everything that’s needed . a 2 min walk from mermerli beach & surrounded by shops, bars & restaurants. breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice fresh cooked omelettes on demand and pancakes service excellent . the food in restaurant also excellent 👌 do try the pizza one of the best i’ve ever had !! thankyou to all the staff as a lone female traveller for making me very welcome had a lovely stay and will be recommending to friends"
