Numa Port Hotel

"First time staying in Alanya and only had a week so wanted to stay somewhere central with easy access to shops, restaurants etc. and Numa Port ticked the boxes. LOCATION Around 90 min private transfer from Antalya Airport and 2 hours on the way back which came to about £45 each way. Tried a few transfer companies and Alanya Transfer .com were the cheapest and did a good job. Antalya airport is very busy and very slow so allow at least 3 hours for your return flight. Next to the Red Tower and harbour. 5 min walk into the centre which is full of shops and restaurants. There are also shops and food places all around the hotel. ROOMS We had a balcony room facing the harbour which was a good size but don’t forget your adapters for your 3 pin plugs. A free to use safe, kettle, small water bottle every day, minibar which we had emptied to use as a fridge and a TV (never switched it on). Also iron and hairdryer provided which worked pretty well. Shower has decent power and water temperature was good. The balcony was big enough to relax in with 2 chairs and a small table. Lost the sun in the afternoon though but this wasn’t a problem. It wasn’t noisy when we stayed but in busy season I think the noise from the harbour side could be a problem so get a room at the back of the hotel for a quieter option. NOTE: The lighting in the room is very dim so not great if yours eyes aren’t that good. WIFI Free and pretty good around most of the hotel. We were on the 4th floor and still good as well as around the pool and reception. FOOD We had breakfast included and it was an okay selection that did the job. Nothing fancy but omelette and toast worked for us. The good thing was the breakfast was open until 11.00 so plenty of time. Never tried their restaurant as so many food choices outside. POOL Tiny pool on the 4th floor but lovely to sit there if you can get a lounger. The loungers are pushed together in a line though and around 12 loungers fill up the whole area plus a few chairs to sit on. It wasn’t busy now so we managed to get space but in peak times you’ll have no chance. Ten or so people in the water will fill the pool up. Would have been better to not have a pool and just use the area for sun loungers instead. GYM There was one but didn’t try it. STAFF No real interaction from the staff and English isn’t their strong point. They tend to have more Turkish/German speaking guests. That said they could still have been a bit more friendlier and engaging. OUTSIDE THE HOTEL Turn left outside the hotel and within a few minutes your in the centre with all the shops, bars and restaurants. It’s pretty easy to get lost though, especially in the bazaar, so keep a track on your surroundings. Turn right outside the hotel and you have the Red Tower plus a nice walk up the old castle walkway. It’s steep and cobbly so good shoes needed. You also have the harbour area and can walk to the little lighthouse for great views. There is a taxi stand to the left and also at the harbour. Taxis have a fixed price but check first anyway. Current fares are 35 lira standard charge plus 50 lira per km for the journey. OVERALL A great central hotel for a short stay and ideal as a base rather than for in-hotel activities (there is none). If you can manage without a pool then a great option especially as everything is close by and great for walking around the area. If you walk round the back of the hotel you can go up quite a way if you’re fit enough. Also make sure to see the Red tower and old shipyard."

"Hotel is in a great location, all areas were very clean and modern. We paid extra for a sea view room and it was well worth it, amazing views over the harbour. Our room was on the 1st floor, would have preferred a room higher for an even more better view but the roof top pool was a bonus. The pool isn't big but enough to cool off, there isn't many loungers and the space is quite tight which means you are lying very close to the next person. On our first day, there wasn't 2 loungers together and a member of the team seeing we were a bit disappointed (We didn't ask or say anything to him) spoke to a couple who had left a lounger free in between them, asking if they could kindly move over so we could be next to each other. I thought this was exceptional service as most places the staff wouldn't bother. There is also a polite notice which said towels will be removed on unattended loungers if longer than 30 minutes which i think is fair. We had lunch by the pool on a couple of days and highly recommend the food, we sadly didn't dine on the evening but did go for drinks one night to take in the amazing views. There is a small beach just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, perfect! Breakfast was included in the room price and selection was good. All the hotel staff were friendly and professional. My only negative and it's so minor was the coffee and milk wasn't replenished every day, and i loved having a coffee on the balcony looking out to sea. I highly recommend this hotel, i really couldn't fault it!"
