"We’ve just come back from a 10-day family holiday at Eftalia Splash Resort, and overall we had a really good time. There were definitely a few things that could be improved, but overall we left feeling rested, happy and with lots of great memories.
Arrival & check-in
We arrived very late at night after a long transfer, which took just over 2 to 2.5 hours. It sounds long, but there was a toilet stop on the way and, surprisingly, the journey went quite quickly.
Check-in was fast and the staff were friendly. Our luggage was taken to our room, which was really appreciated after such a long journey.
Our room
We stayed in a Family Room with two bedrooms (Room 202). The room was clean, spacious and perfect for our family. The bathroom was also a really good size.
The air conditioning in our bedroom worked brilliantly, but unfortunately the one in the children’s bedroom was very weak. We reported it, but unfortunately nobody came to fix it, which was disappointing.
The room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and the beds made. It wasn’t a deep clean every day, more of a quick tidy-up, but honestly, we were completely fine with that. I actually prefer it when nobody moves all my things around! 😂
Wi-Fi was also fine during our stay.
Food
There was a very large selection of food. Pasta, chips, different meats, salads and lots more. The salad selection in particular was excellent — lots of choice and everything looked fresh.
Not everything was to my taste, but with so much choice, we always found something we enjoyed. The dessert selection was huge!
There were sometimes quite long queues, especially for drinks, and unfortunately some guests weren’t always very polite or patient — but that’s not really the hotel’s fault.
One thing I think could be improved would be having a small section specifically for children and perhaps more places to get drinks to reduce the queues.
The basic drinks, soft drinks, tea and coffee were included in the all-inclusive package. Cocktails and some other alcoholic drinks had to be paid for separately.
Pools & waterpark
The pools were good and the children absolutely loved the slides. I didn’t personally use the slides, but my girls had lots of fun.
One thing I would definitely mention is that the area around the pools can be VERY slippery. Unfortunately, my daughter Rosie had an accident on the first day of our holiday and ended up in hospital and having her nail removed. The hotel arranged a taxi to the hospital for us, which we appreciated.
The nurse at the hotel was also extremely busy — we saw quite a few people with bandages during our stay, and unfortunately there seemed to be accidents around the pool area quite regularly.
The hospital wanted €100 for the taxi back to the hotel, which we found completely unreasonable. We took a taxi directly outside the hospital instead and paid €30.
The hospital care itself was good, although there was some confusion when taking the excess payment and there was a lot of pressure and stress around sorting everything through our travel insurance. It was already a stressful situation having your child in hospital abroad, so being constantly on the phone with insurance companies wasn’t easy. Thankfully, everything was eventually sorted and Rosie was okay.
Sunbeds
Sunbeds are definitely one of those things where you have to get up early and reserve one. 😂 However, we found that at around 8:30am there was still a reasonable choice, so it wasn’t as bad as we expected.
Entertainment & activities
There were lots of activities during the day, including Zumba and other activities around the pool. The children always had something to do.
The evening entertainment was okay, and there was a kids’ disco. Our girls enjoyed it — even if it was just something to do before bedtime. 😂
We didn’t personally use the kids’ club, so I can’t really comment on that.
There wasn’t much interaction between the children during the kids’ disco, although I wonder if the language barrier played a part in that.
There is music around the pool during the day, which some people might find a little loud, but we didn’t find it a major problem.
Eftalia Island
Eftalia Island was definitely one of our highlights!
There was a shuttle bus approximately every 20 minutes, so getting there was easy. The waterpark was great and there was a good choice of pools and slides.
The food court was also very good, with a large selection of food available between around 12pm and 4pm.
The children really enjoyed having the option to go to the Island, and it gave us even more things to do during the holiday.
Staff
The staff work incredibly hard. We constantly saw them clearing plates, collecting cups and keeping everything tidy.
Everyone was generally friendly and some staff tried to have a chat with us, although the language barrier sometimes made communication a little difficult.
We honestly don’t have anything particularly bad to say about the staff — they were always busy working.
Spa
We also booked a family spa package and absolutely loved it. The children really enjoyed it too, and it was a lovely experience for all of us.
Towels were available at the spa, which was convenient.
Excursions
We went on a pirate boat trip, which was a fun day out, but our favourite excursion was definitely the 4-in-1 adventure with rafting, zip wire, quad biking and other activities.
That was probably one of the best days of the whole holiday — so much fun and definitely something we would recommend!
A few little things that could be improved
There are always a few things you could pick at, of course.
I think ice cream should be available throughout the day rather than only between 2pm and 4pm — especially in a family resort! 😂
You also need to be a little careful when buying things from the small shops in the hotel and make sure you understand the price before paying. We had a small misunderstanding over the price of some magnets, so it’s worth double-checking.
The biggest thing I would recommend the hotel looks at, though, is the slippery flooring around the pools. We saw quite a few people slipping and noticed quite a lot of guests with bandages, so this definitely deserves attention.
Would we come back?
Would we return to Eftalia Splash? Probably not — but honestly, that’s not because we disliked the hotel. We simply like travelling to new places and experiencing somewhere different every time. We rarely return to the same hotel.
Overall, we had a really lovely family holiday. There were a few things that could be better, but no holiday is perfect, and you also have to remember that you are sharing a resort with hundreds of other people — and people are people! 😂
We came home rested, happy and with lots of memories (and quite a few stories to tell! 😅).
Overall, we would recommend Eftalia Splash Resort, especially for families with children. There is so much to do that the kids will definitely not be bored.
Thank you, Eftalia Splash, for a great family holiday! ❤️🇹🇷"
