"I’ll start by saying on the whole this is a fab hotel, with excellent staff (Christina, Gisela, Roaid, Usman, Yolando and Alex to name a few). This is our 2nd visit in 2 years. Rooms are well presented, housekeeping keep everything clean and tidy and the breakfast is really great with food replenished all the time and always fresh. The bar prices are the same as the bars in town, in the main, and the cocktails are really lovely. The food at the bar is hot and fresh and cooked to order. Grounds are well kept and the pool area is clean and tidy. A lovely setting with a short walk into the town, up and down a steep hill, but lots of fantastic restaurants close at hand as well as the others in the town itself. Didn’t have one bad meal the whole 10 days and the same last year.
Now to the not so good aspect! If you plan to stay in June for the weeks leading up to and after Black and White night, the music festival, please be aware that the hotel is overrun with Tottenham Hotspur’s supporters, holding a reunion. Our understanding is that they booked over 50 rooms this year. They go every year and this year was a nightmare. There were far more than before, the language used around the pool and in the bar was foul, bearing in mind there were children staying at the hotel. The supporters were very intimidating especially to other non Spurs supporters, who were identified by their towels and replica shirts etc. This all came to a head on Friday 19th June when they decided to hold their reunion party by the hotel pool. Non hotel guests were invited to join them and loungers were secured early in the morning for these non guests. Very large football banners were attached to the fencing around the pool area and the atmosphere was very unpleasant. Later in the afternoon, guests were forced from sunbeds to allow a group photo, and a round of foul football chants and songs began. The hotel management did nothing to prevent this and after communication since returning home have failed to provide any reassurances this won’t be allowed to happen again in the future, which is very disappointing. As a result we will no longer stay here during these 2 weeks, which will please the Spurs fans as more rooms available for them, as this is not the vibe we are looking for in a hotel. We are not dissing the hotel, it really is a great place to stay just not in those 2 weeks in June. We would hate to see new guests have an experience like ours hence this rather long review.
To management, please think long and hard about the damage to the hotels reputation, both from aggrieved future guests and also people walking by who are thinking of staying but observe what we had to suffer this year."
