"Just got back from an amazing week at this hotel. My husband, daughter, mother and a family friend. My mother is 92 years old and has some mobility, but uses a wheelchair for long distances. Her friend has some mobility issues too and health issues which this holiday was supposed to be a reprieve from. . Jet2 emailed ahead for a ground floor room with walk in shower. Arrived at the hotel firstly to the lovely general handy man who came to greet us out of the cab and helped push my mom to the reception desk. We then met the lovely amazing, super friendly and super helpful Maria on the reception desk. An absolute credit to the hotel and deserves recognition and reward for her customer service and super friendly nature. Their room was just as we asked. Evens small ramp leading into the room for wheelchair access. Our family friend had to visit the local Santorini general hospital 3 times during our stay on a pre arranged visit. This was 6 journeys costing €39 per journey. The lovely Maria arranged a good discount with the taxi company and made sure she had a little breakfast bag to take with her as we were leaving at 7.30am each time. She always greeted us with a lovely smile and was genuinely interested in our day. All the restaurant staff were super friendly and helpful too and a shout out to Dino on reception as well. The rooms were lovely and clean and there was always plenty of sunbeds no matter what time of the day you went to the pool. The hotel itself is literally minutes from the main promenade with a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from.
The only thing that marred our stay was an encounter with Mia the bar lady. On our first day and after a lovely welcome meeting with Maria we stayed and had lunch and drinks at the pool bar. As the bill for food came separately we payed for lunch by card but left the cash for the drinks in the wallet. I put this on the bar and gestured to Mia (who was behind the bar) that here was the money for the drinks. After my daughter and I came back to the hotel after a stroll down the promenade Mia stopped us to ask us for payment for the drinks. I explained that I had left the money on the bar in the blue wallet and made her aware of it. She became very agitated and said there was no money there, we had only paid for the food. She told us to follow her to see the waitress whom we had paid to prove we had only paid for food. The poor girl seemed embarrassed but I explained again yes we paid her by card for the food and cash for the drinks was left on the bar. We followed her to the bar where she proceeded to tip everything out of the bin onto the floor, hoping that it would some how produce the missing €30. She got a bit frantic and upset and kept insisting we hadn’t paid and if the till was short her boss would make her pay the difference and she couldn’t afford it, so we had to pay her. I obviously refused and asked her if she thought we were lying. My daughter then said to her. Look you have cctv why don’t you check it. You will then know we are telling the truth. To be honest I was really upset about it all and her insinuations. So at that point I left her to it.
Sometime later as we were going out to dinner that evening, she approached me again to say yes she had found it. One of the staff had picked it up in error not realising there was money inside it ( or some such explanation) barely an apology or acknowledgment of how she’d made us feel, but I decided to let it go as I didn’t want it to spoil our first impressions of the hotel.
The following night we came back around 11,45pm and stopped at the bar for a drink. She refused to serve us because she said she had already cashed up even though the advertising hours was 12.00am. After that I avoided having anything to do with her as each encounter with her was leaving a very unpleasant impression on me and as I say this holiday was for our family friend and mom and I didn’t want to spoil it for them, but the way she handled the situation was absolutely appalling and made us feel like common thieves.
Had it have not been for this one unpleasant person, this would have been a 5 star glowing review. But I hasten to add this is a reflection on one person. Not the hotel as a whole as everyone else went out of their way to make us feel exceptionally welcome. In particular Maria"
