"We stayed at the hotel for one week, and unfortunately there were several negative aspects that affected our overall experience.
The bed sheets were only changed once during our stay, which we noticed because the sheet had a hole in it. Housekeeping could also have been much better, and there were a lot of ants crawling around inside our hotel room.
The snack bar at Elia Bar was disappointing. The selection consisted mainly of ice cream, a small croissant with two tiny sausages, and baklava. It was disappointing that there was no fresh fruit available for children between meals, as fruit was only served during lunch and dinner.
The pool toilets needed to be cleaned much more frequently. On one occasion there was feces left on the toilet seat, and there was often urine on the floor. None of the toilet doors could be locked, which made the situation even worse.
There were often long queues at the pool bar. What was particularly frustrating was that the head bartender regularly prioritized the entertainment staff over guests who had already been waiting in line. Sometimes we had to wait around ten minutes while staff members walked straight to the side of the bar and were served first. On another occasion, the bartender was standing on his phone while guests had to wait until he finally came over to ask what they wanted to order.
Soap was missing in several public restrooms, and the soap dispenser in the women’s restroom next to the gym did not work.
The gym is in need of a major upgrade. Most of the equipment is old, there are very few dumbbell options (only 7.5 kg, 12.5 kg and 20 kg), and the weight benches are worn out. The treadmills, however, were in good condition.
Only a few employees in the restaurant greeted guests. Most of them appeared irritated, especially one large male employee who never made eye contact with guests. There was also a woman working in the restaurant who repeatedly pushed past guests as if she always had to go first.
The restaurant staff did not have a professional dress code. Many of them wore sweatpants together with a Delfinia T-shirt, which gave an untidy and unprofessional impression.
The hotel’s General Manager really needs to improve his leadership. His office is located just inside the entrance on the left side of the lobby. He came across as a very strange, stressed, loud and constantly irritated person. Throughout the day he frequently shouted at his staff and always seemed to be in a bad mood. On one occasion he walked straight into a guest carrying a plate of food because he was waving his arms around while walking. He also has a habit of making exaggerated bows and waving his hands dramatically whenever he sees guests, which feels very artificial rather than welcoming. On another occasion he appeared to be speaking very disrespectfully to a young male employee. I do not understand Greek, but the young man avoided eye contact, became completely quiet and looked genuinely upset while the manager spoke to him. It was uncomfortable to witness.
There were also many flies in the restaurant. The same loud music was played repeatedly throughout the day, and the dining room was often extremely noisy. Guests frequently walked or ran between the tables, and on three different occasions people bumped into and kicked our daughter’s high chair while she was eating. Eventually we had to move her to another table so she could finish her meal in peace.
The minimarket located just outside the hotel by the road also deserves mentioning. The blond younger woman working there was particularly unfriendly and made customers feel like they were a nuisance. She insisted that payment had to be completed immediately when presenting your card and even warned that the card terminal would be blocked for twenty minutes if payment was not made quickly enough, which felt unnecessary and quite rude.
On the positive side, the food was varied, fresh and very tasty. There was always plenty to choose from, and children could enjoy ice cream every day. Fresh fruit was also available during lunch and dinner.
The children’s mini disco was excellent. A special thank you to Mikey, who created an amazing atmosphere and made the activities fun for everyone. The lifeguard was also very friendly, helpful and wonderful with our children. The hotel has several nice swimming pools and fun water slides, which our children absolutely loved.
Overall, the hotel has great potential thanks to its good food, family-friendly facilities and water park. Unfortunately, the poor cleanliness, inconsistent service, hygiene issues, and especially the unprofessional leadership significantly affected what could otherwise have been a much better holiday."
