"Just stayed here last week, 14-21at July. Family of 4. We have a disabled teen, we didn’t find it too difficult, lots of steps, but also lots of ramps so we made it work. The porters were so helpful, running my teen to the pools and helping with luggage. Very grateful. Pools – 15 saltwater pools, all very clean, we struggled to get a lounger at times, but we like a late morning so if your happy to get up and get going shouldn’t be a problem. Food – Best food we have had in any hotel, fresh, lots of variety, themed evenings, fab waiters, all meals were lovely. Staff were friendly, helpful and happy to help. Rooms – we were upgraded because of noise, as we were originally placed under the bar, which was noisy, once mentioned they upgraded us to the most amazing room with the most incredible view, no questions asked, no extra charge. Beach – stunning beach, with free loungers, shower points to clean up, easy to get too, very close. View is incredible. Con – Hotel is on a flight path, noisy at times, weirdly we quite enjoyed it, but not for everyone. Con - Only 1 pool bar with snacks, which is very basic, hot dogs, burgers, nuggets. I found it frustrating if we were at a pool a little far away and had to keep walking for drinks, they also don’t provide trays so it’s difficult to carry many drinks. They also fill your cups with lots of ice, they ensure they are careful with portions. I wouldn’t say its 5 star, a great 4 star."

"We stayed at the Porto Bello Royal, Kos in July 2026. Travelled as a family with my wife and six year old daughter. ROOMS - The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the airport, and about 5 minutes outside of the village of Kardamaina. Check in was perhaps a bit slow as there were only 2 persons, but we were then whisked off to our room on a little golf buggy. We had a family room with a partition, which cost us a little bit extra, but it was worth it in my opinion, as we’d never get our daughter to sleep otherwise!! Our room was spacious and modern, and very clean. It had a small fridge in the desk, which was refreshed daily with cold bottles of water. It was cleaned daily, and tea and coffee supplies, as well as towels refreshed. The hotel supplies beach towels for no extra charge which can be refreshed three times a week. Bathroom always had hot water, and the shower was decent. There were 2 large TVs, though we didn’t really use them. There was a small room safe for valuables, that is free to use. Good WiFi is available through the whole hotel. AC was really good too. POOLS - There is a huge amount of pools at the hotel, so they all seem a little quiet, which is really nice. There are signs saying you cannot reserve sun beds, but of course, it happens all the time. Only once in our stay were we unable to find sun beds for the three of us. There are a lot of rooms with swim up pools, and shared pools, so it looks like people are taking the sun beds onto their patios, but I think these are part of the room so to speak. BEACH - There hotels private beach is great. Loads of sun beds that are free to use, a bar right on the beach, and toilets on the beach. The beach is fairly clean and tidy, and the water is clear and blue! We sent more time on the beach than by the pools. The water immediately in front of the hotels sun beds is quite rocky and gravely to be fair, and harsh on your feet. However, if you head to the area 20 metres to the left, it’s nice and clear sand, with no rocks or sharp juts. Much better for kids. FOOD - The food is quite good. The main buffet restaurant was good. Food was fresh and quite tasty, though perhaps it did get a bit ‘samey’ by the end. Lots of choices though, and plenty of options for fussy kids. Restaurant did get busy at peak times, but what can you expect? Poolside drinks and snacks were ok, perhaps not as good as other places we’ve been to. Queues sometimes formed, but not too often, and 5 minutes was the most I waited. There are 3 different à la carte restaurants, a Greek, an Italian, and a burger place. The Greek was amazing and definitely worth a visit. Burger place was OK. Italian place was OK. You can book them a day in advance at reception, or 2 days if you do it online through the QR code on the hotels room TV page. You do have to do it early though, as they fill up really quickly. MINI-MARKET - stocked with everything you could need, but must be at a 300% markup. 25 Euros for sun screen!!! Kind of annoyed me a bit as they have a captive audience. Everything in there was incredibly expensive, apart from flip flops for some reason. To address some other things I’ve read in reviews, there is a local bus to Kardamaina. The bus stop is in the car park, and the timetable is displayed at reception. Was reliable when we used it, maybe 3 or 4 minutes behind, but that’s not unusual anywhere. Kardamaina has lots of souvenir shops and mini markets much more reasonably priced than the hotel, so it’s worth a visit. The hotel is under the flight path for the airport, however,it’s about 10-15 flights a day, latest probably 9 o’clock, and it didn’t bother us at all. Tourist tax (or Climate Crisis Resilience Fee as the Greek Government has strategically renamed it) is 15 Euros a night. Well advertised across most holiday booking websites. There are probably a few minor niggles here and there, but nothing serious at all. A bit of untidiness here and there, yep. Maids forgot to leave us milk one day, yep. But like I said, nothing that really warrants serious moaning. Many reviews question whether this is a five star resort. Truthfully, it’s probably not. I think the food and drink, and service outside of the main restaurants would need to be improved for it to be a true 5 star place. It’s more like a good 4 star. We had a really good time, and I think it was worth the money we paid."
