"We stayed for a week at the beginning of May. The hotel has been tastefully redecorated throughout and looks like a brand new hotel. Interior design team have done a fantastic job; hotel is stunning at every angle. Reception staff were welcoming and always greeted us with a smile.
Room:
We stayed in the family swim up suite with access to a shared swim up pool. The room was beautiful and comfortable, however, if there were more of us staying (it was two adults and one child) it would have felt a little tight. We liked that there was a separation between the bedroom and the living room and that you could choose whether to keep it closed or open. Shower was spacious and had a great light up mirror. We would have loved to have a bidet in the bathroom and also the shower screen could have been a little longer so that water would have stayed in the shower and not go all over the bathroom floor. Shampoo, conditioner and body lotion provided were lovely and smelled great. We did, however, had to ask for a hand soap as the products were fixed to the base on the shelf in the shower and there was no soap at the sink. Mini bar/ coffee were restocked daily, towels changed when required. We weren’t sure how often the bed linen was being changed as we found the sustainability instructions a bit unclear. However, the housekeeping team were lovely and happy to help when needed. Another thing that we weren’t keen on was the fact that the hotel staff seem to let themselves into the room without knocking and waiting, even though room also had a doorbell. We had mini bar attendants and housekeepers come in several times, which could be a bit of a problem for those wanting privacy. Our room also had a bubble feature (not sure how it’s actually called) at the entrance to the pool, however, it wasn’t working. We reported this twice but it wasn’t fixed before we left.
Food:
We had access to a separate breakfast location with our room type, which was located in the Greek taverna. We went there the first morning but didn’t return as the choice was very limited and it was further from our room than the main restaurant. The main restaurant had a good variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were plenty of hot/ cold options, local dishes etc. One thing that could be improved would be that drinks needed to be ordered every time. We would have preferred to have fresh orange juice and few other options available as self service instead. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Special thanks to Maria who was always attentive and smiling.
We also visited all the à la carte restaurants as this was included with our booking. The steak restaurant was the best, we would definitely recommend it. Italian was also nice although food service was extremely slow. We waited long time between each course and then around an hour for desert which never came. We left and went to the galateria instead. Tex mex was the most disappointing as we found the food rather bland, but I appreciate that different people like different levels of seasoning. Galateria was great for crepes, waffles and ice cream, we liked their long opening hours as well. Pool bar had a slush machine which sadly wasn’t available at other bars. Overall all bars served the same cocktails and the taste seemed to have depended on the barman, so not very consistent. Also it was disappointing that most bars didn’t have decaf coffee. Souvlaki and pizza stations were great, we grabbed lunch there often. It would be even better if they were open for longer.
Secret bar:
We were supposed to have had access to the secret bar with our room type, providing pool service for our rooms. However, no information was provided to us. We asked at the pool bar and they said we had to call the reception to order. After ringing the reception they transferred us over but no one answered. The second time we tried they took the order and brought it over but both drinks were wrong. We didn’t bother using it again.
Beach:
Beach was beautiful with plenty of sun loungers and different options available. It is a private beach for hotel guests only. There are several showers and toilets as well. Can’t comment on the beach bar as due to the whether we didn’t get to enjoy it.
Kids club:
We liked that the kids club was located in a separate building, next to a splash pool/ slides. There’s also a little playground for the smaller children. Teens have a separate section with a selection of gaming devices (not sure which exactly as it wasn’t relevant for us), pool table, hockey table etc. There’s a separate pool next to the teen section as well as a little bar serving beverages which is also handy for parents. Kids club was well equipped and beautifully designed inside, with lovely teachers who made us feel so welcome. We went early in the season so most kids were toddlers and too young for our daughter to play with, however, ladies had a number of activities lined up each day and my daughter loved it there. I would definitely recommend. Special thank you to Irini who was wonderful to our daughter and made her so happy.
There were loads of couples with babies and very young children when we visited, but what we really liked about this hotel was that even though it was very family friendly, it wasn’t kids-focused, which meant that you’d find it great whether or not you came with kids. In my opinion it is hard to get this balance right and they did it well here.
Car hire:
We used the company who have a desk behind the reception to hire a car for a week. The price was very reasonable and the service was great. We wanted to leave the car at the airport on departure and they offered to take us to the airport instead to save us the hassle of parking etc, which was a lovely touch. Thank you to both Nikos and Jasmine.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to this or any other Mitsis hotel in the future. Thank you."
