"The hotel is set in a stunning location. The view from the restaurant is just beautiful. I stayed in a garden bungalow which had a nice size terrace. There is road noise so something to consider if that would nother you although it didn't bother me. I liked being slightly tucked away from the main hotel.
The room was smaller than anticipated from the photos, although to be fair, the size was advertised on the description when booking. It was a little tired but perfectly adequate and appropriate for the hotel rating. There were sandwiches, fruit and water left on the first evening due to late arrival which was appreciated as well as a welcome box of sweets and a free drink and pool bar snack voucher. The fridge was very noisy so I unplugged it each night, but not really an issue. The same with aircon, although greatly appreciated it was very loud but that's not unusual. The cleaning was excellent. Every day there was clean sheets, towels and the floors mopped. The whole hotel was very clean and well attended to. Other positives was a bathroom cabinet with lots of space to store lotions and potions, ample hanging and drawer space and a wall mounted smart TV. I only used it once or twice to play background music on YouTube but you could log into your Netflix or Prime account if wanted. Also a nice sized mirror and dressing table for getting ready.
The atmosphere was calm and quiet. People congregated around the pool bar mostly or the private beach, including in the evening. I went once to the Greek dancing evening, but personally, I was happy to sit on my terrace reading and relaxing and enjoying the company of the cats on the hotel grounds who were all very sweet and entertaining.
I really enjoyed the evening meals. Every day there was something new and tasty with plenty of choice and some delicious local dishes all with an exceptional view, it was a real treat. I never felt rushed. Breakfast there is a typical variety and always plentiful.
I'm not much of a drinker and wasn't keen on the local beer offered with dinner (or wine) but more than happy with the bottled water supplied. I did have a couple of very nice mojitos though and fruit mocktails.
Staff were nice and welcoming and I particularly enjoyed the company of Olympia, the lady who looks after the beach bar. I also had a long wait after check out before my evening flight and appreciated being able to leave my luggage and still take advantage of the hotel facilities for the day.
It is very easy to get a bus into town or Benitses which is definitely worth a visit. It is 5 euros to get a day bus ticket. I may be wrong but I don't think you could buy it onboard with card or smartphone and there isn't a ticket machine so advice to have cash on you. There is a convenience store immediately outside which sold everything from souvenirs to grocery items. There is also a tour company, restaurant and car hire opposite. If you turn right at the hotel and walk for ten minutes there are a few other restaurants along the way. I was eaten alive by mosquitos, so I would definitely recommend investing in repellant which I stupidly didn't do!
I only went on one day trip which I booked with another company prior to arrival, but had I known you could book through the hotel, I would have booked through them. I did the grand tour of Corfu which was about 8 hours long for 55 euros. It was nice if you want to be whisked around to decide where you'll go back to to spend more leisurely time. Otherwise it gives a sense of at least taking in more of the Island.
The only thing to note really are there are a lot of steps. Steps down to the lovely private beach and up to the main road so not ideal if you have mobility issues and if you're unfit like me, you'll feel it!
All in all, I felt this was very good value for money and I would definitely recommend it. I feel very rested after my week away. My only regret it is I couldn't bring 6 cats home with me!"
