En savoir plus sur Agglomération de Nice
Nestled between the shimmering Mediterranean Sea and the rolling hills of Provence, Nice is the crown jewel of the French Riviera. Bursting with charm, culture, and coastal allure, this sprawling area offers a slice of sunshine-soaked paradise.
Start your journey along the world-famous Promenade des Anglais, where the sparkling azure Mediterranean meets elegant palm-fringed pathways. Whether you’re soaking up the sun, cruising on a bike, or enjoying a relaxed seaside walk, this iconic boulevard is pure Riviera magic.
Ready for a dose of history and charm? Venture into the Old Town (Vieux Nice), a labyrinth of vibrant streets brimming with artisanal shops, bustling markets, and architectural treasures. Treat yourself to some fresh socca, a local chickpea pancake, hot off the griddle – it’s love at first bite!
When it’s time to eat (in a more dedicated way), you’ll find that every meal here is a celebration of Provençal flavours. Treat yourself to a classic Niçoise salad, hearty ratatouille, or a fragrant pissaladière. Whether you’re dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant or a cosy seaside bistro, the food scene here is as vibrant as the sunsets.
If you’re feeling adventurous, Nice is bursting with experiences that go beyond its sun-drenched beaches. Climb to the top of Castle Hill (Colline du Château) for panoramic views that will leave you in awe – think sweeping vistas of the Mediterranean, the city’s terracotta rooftops, and the charming harbour below. It’s just a 10-minute walk or a quick lift ride to the top and well worth the effort.
For an extra dose of history, head to the enchanting Cimiez district. Just a 15-minute cab ride from the city centre, you can wander through ancient Roman ruins, including an amphitheatre and thermal baths, or immerse yourself in art at the Musée Matisse, dedicated to Henri Matisse. This area perfectly blends cultural treasures with serene beauty.
As the sun goes down, head to the harbour for an aperitif. With gleaming yachts and lively terraces, it’s the perfect spot to soak up the Riviera vibe. From there, dive into Nice’s nightlife – enjoy live jazz in the Old Town, sip cocktails at the city’s chic rooftop bars, or dance the night away at the vibrant clubs near the Port.
