"This hotel is in a beautiful location. The sunsets from our balcony made this holiday memorable.
We arrived at the hotel at 2.30 pm. The reception is beautiful. Check in took a little time but they had groups of people to check in. After a bit of a wait We were given pool towels, a card to replace one during our week stay. A piece of paper with the times of restaurants, our wrist bands( we booked AI) told the direction of our room. Absolutely no other information given. No welcome drink like you’d get at other hotels. Not even a glass of water. Bit strange but ok.
Off we went to find our room. Pretty well sign posted so not difficult. There is a lift to take you to every floor so this hotel is accessible.
The deluxe sea view room we booked is very basic. A double bed that was 2 single beds pushed together, not even secured so pushed apart every time you moved 😂. A kettle with some tea / coffee. A tv that didn’t have one English Channel. ( didn’t complain as I wasn’t there to watch tv) a small bathroom with a shower ( not the best but you could get a reasonably warm shower ) . There is a hairdryer that is useable so you don’t need to take your own. Most importantly Everywhere was clean.
The deluxe part of this room is when you go to your balcony, the most spectacular views. The sunsets are breathtaking. ( room 459) this alone was worth the upgrade. A chair and leg rest so you can sit and watch the sunset in comfort, which we did every night we stayed.
Off we went to explore, find where things were.
First stop was the breeze bar. The staff here are so lovely. There is a full menu of drinks and cocktails. The cocktails are great and I highly recommend the sangria.
They also have a food menu, included if you are AI. (The club sandwich & the ceaser salad are delicious. ) we ate here most afternoons enjoying the sunshine.
The pool areas are kept spotless. 3 pools . 1 of the pools is warm enough to swim in later in the day but the other 2 are too cold ( for me anyway ) . If you don’t mind where you sit you can get a bed by the pools pretty much any time of day, but it does get busy.
There was a few altercations with people reserving beds early and other people just moving peoples things so they could sit there. ( not really necessary as there was always somewhere to sit, just the usual arrogant type who wanted to make a point) .
The main buffet restaurant was chaos in the evening. ( If it was too cold to have the outside sitting area open , you could be queuing for about 20 minutes for a table. )
The breakfast is excellent. Lots of choice. Fresh fruits, cooked breakfast, salads, cheeses breads, cakes. Anything you could want. Fresh juices, a hot drinks machine with a full menu of coffees and a choice of teas.
you have to get up to get your own drinks at breakfast but they are served to you at lunch & dinner.
The food at lunch and dinner is pretty basic if I’m honest. Theres always a great salad bar & a full array of cheeses.
It was just the same stuff on repeat day in day out. Always something you could make a meal of I suppose.
We were there for the new year gala. Which I have to say was excellent. The food on this particular night was amazing. This whole night was organised brilliantly with a fantastic firework display to bring in the new year. The staff were doing everything they could to make sure you had a fabulous night. Which we did.
The lobby bar in the evening and the theatre were again very hit and miss. If you could find a table to sit at you had table service. Again the staff are fabulous at looking after you. Making sure you have a drink. If you couldn’t find a table and had to go to the bar you are in for a very long wait.
The entertainment is on for maybe an hour each night in the theatre. From 9 till 10 then maybe some music until 11, then nothing !! Not even music playing !! It’s very bizarre.
On New Year’s Day there had been a storm, which sadly had blown the electricity in the theatre. They moved the Tina turner tribute into the lobby bar. It was chaotic. Nowhere for people to sit. Very short staffed, huge queues at the bar. The entertainment manager letting people walk through to the theatre to read the sign on the door that said closed, fully aware there was no where for people to sit or for people to get a drink. It took over an hour to get 1 drink. No other bar open. No extra staff to serve no chairs brought from the other bars for people to sit at. Not one care given. I did complain at reception. ( sorry to the lovely guy I spoke to as I know it wasn’t your fault) I was told to speak to guest services the next day as there was no manager to speak to .
Sadly a really rubbish end to our holiday.
To sum things up. If you are looking for a quiet holiday with no entertainment this is a perfect hotel for you. The view from the rooms are spectacular. The staff at this hotel are amazing. From cleaners to bar staff They go out of their way to look after you. It’s just very poorly managed and lacking the detail and care you would expect for the price tag."
