"My husband and I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved our experience.
The hotel itself is in a nice quiet area with a 5 minute walk to a little market for snacks and drinks so very handy. We personally never attempted the walk into Puerto de la Cruz as I had recently had surgery and couldn’t test it out. But it seemed to be quite an incline on the way back to the hotel. However, the hotel offers a shuttle on most days to Puerto de la Cruz (it returns to the hotel as well) - we would get a taxi back which cost between €5-7.
The rooms are spacious and clean - we were both very happy with what we had been given. We had a lovely view of the sea and also partly of the mountain. Again, felt very peaceful and calm. It is possible to hire kettles but we took our own and some travel mugs so we were set.
We were lucky enough to have wonderful weather on our first day and sat by the pool. So clean and the gardens were very well maintained. The pool bar was wonderful as well - offering a range of food and drinks. We got nuggets and fries on a few occasions and my husband really enjoyed them as did I.
Speaking of food, we went half board and we definitely were NEVER disappointed by the food that was on offer.
Breakfast was a range of cooked foods such as sausages, bacon, eggs, hash brown also with options to have omelettes freshly made as well as fried eggs. My husband has a dairy allergy but never went without - all the foods were well labelled with any allergens written on them which made life so much easier. They also had yogurts, fruits, cereals, milks (including Lacto free and almond) as well as pastries, bread (for toast) and finally deli meats, cheeses and vegetables also.
Dinner; to begin with there was a range of starters including mini salad type things like Thai chicken salad, bulgar salad and other such examples - they changed daily. Then there were options for salad - all different vegetables and things like tuna and a variety of salad dressings. For the hot portion, there were options including different carbs (fries, rice, pasta) as well as hot vegetarian options and there was also a grill whereby you could request freshly cooked options. I had prawns one day, steak the next also tuna steak. There were always two different freshly cooked options each day to choose from.
For desserts, there were so many little options to choose from and also two different ice cream types each day - we had to be a little more careful with the dessert as they were manly dairy based.
The staff were absolutely wonderful. Whatever query we had they couldn’t do enough for us. A special mention to one of the restaurant staff (Christian) who was incredibly helpful - I had been bitten lots and lots by mosquitoes and needed ice to help with the swelling and he was so kind and helpful in sorting this out for me.
We went with Erica into Santa Cruz on Thursday which was lovely. She was very kind and helpful and it meant we didn’t have to pay €55 for a taxi. Rather €20 for a return bus ticket so definitely worth waiting for her to escort us. The other people who went joined her on a walking tour of the city but my husband and I went off on our own and explored in our own way.
Literally the only thing that was ‘frustrating’ was we weren’t able to extend our room hire later than the midday check out. We weren’t being collected until 18:30 but it wasn’t their fault they weren’t able to allow us the room - they were busy."
