"We recently visited this hotel with a 3 year old toddler, pregnant and final holiday as a family of 3. Upon entry to the hotel I would say it dos not have the modern features and is quite dark and old hotel feeling compared to other holidays we’ve been on recently. However we picked this hotel as it was recommended and we were low on options for family friendly hotels.
Firstly, I cannot fault any member or staff that we have personally interacted with even just walking by or being served by, they have been attentive, efficient and polite. All the waiters, bar staff, reception etc were all wonderful. Especially Juan Carlos who helped us book baby club for our toddler and then came to find us the next day while on his rounds that he seemed to do when we posted some feedback on the app and when there was no space available for baby club he put us on the waitlist and wasn’t more helpful in that scenario!
Our room was a superior sea view and we had a fold out bed from the wall for our toddler, she fell out a couple of times and we had made a soft landing patch for her and without prompting the staff installed a bed guard and we didn’t even think to ask so that was kind, they brought up additional pillows for me as a pregnant lady and for our toddler a smaller pillow and that was within 10 mins of calling reception so again just very efficient service. The room was clean, spacious and the balcony had a hanging for clothes and towels, a table and chairs and 2 sun beds overlooking the sea. Perfect. Room 503.
The buffet is your regular standard like buffet, nothing extra and nothing less. The kids section wasn’t available to us as we were out of season in March so I can’t comment but the signs were there and looks like normal rounded food for kids. They had a huge selection for milk alternatives - we needed Oat for our toddler and that plus soya, lactose free, rice milk was available and maybe a couple more. There is a play area inside the restaurant in the non adults only area, wasn’t a huge deal to do in there for them but enough to keep her entertained with other kids for an hour after dinner.
One thing I wish they had was a vegan ice cream option for our toddler or other desserts that didn’t have cream but we also didn’t ask.
The evening entertainment in the bar, we had 2 magicians, flamenco dancers, singers and an other singing groups who were all good. We especially enjoyed the 2 magicians my toddler was fascinated. Malcolm and Jenny I think were the 2 acts. Other than that for a toddler it was quite late so she just found other kids and ran around outside.
The animation team ❤️ they had baby club for babies up to 3 so our toddler was able to be dropped off and left in their care for slots in the day, you do need to book these as we had to book either on the day or before as the limit was 5 babies. If you want to go to mini club you can and stay there which we also did. They had a fenced off baby area, a play house, sand pit, garden games, a swing and slide set outside. The staff I couldn’t get all their names but I think i got Lucia, Fernando, Bea, Melissa, Ari and but there were also a few others I think they said there’s 25 of them! You don’t see them harassing you around the pool I think they came round once to ask to join aqua gym but they don’t linger or pressure which was refreshing.
The kids pool (Roni Adventure) there’s a big play area to the side of the pool with climbing bits, 2 slides, it’s on quite the hill so wear appropriate shoes and to get to the slides you can also climb a high up nets route or you can do it and go through past the slides. The pools were warmed up which was nice, they have a little pirate ship slide, and it’s lovely and shallow for our toddler to play independently an then next that is a deeper pool that was also warm and was good but I can imagine in the summer that would feel cramped maybe. Behind the sun loungers is a mini play area suited for babies crawling and is under cover and then this is where mini disco was.
The other pools there’s a big main pool by lunch and tha has a slanted walk in route which again is nice for kids or for people that want to sit, has an infinity view, jacuzzi was lovely and warm (for my feet lol). Next to the main pool is a circular smaller pool that is shallow for kids to again play in independently and was again warm - delightful! The other pool below was much quieter and I think salt water but we didn’t go in it but was a good space for adults maybe.
The hotel overlooks the sea and is such a lovely view when you’re walking around the property. Surrounding the hotel is a huge walkway where you can get access to and from the hotel through a secured gate where you need your key, this is a lovely long walk up and down the cliffs, there is a lift in the hotel that takes you to a small volcanic sandy beach - you need sea shoes.
The hotel is not your average modernised hotel, but it does provide for a toddler everything we needed and felt more relaxed having the pool options that were nice and shallow, plastic cutlery and plates etc, plenty of food options to keep them fed (or was a bit repetitive after 9 days) I think my toddler eventually got bored.
All in all the highlights are:
- Toddler and baby friendly
- Attentive staff
- Animation team for kids under 4 available at no extra charge
- No harassing of animation team
- March was pretty quiet so something to consider if more in season
- Cleanliness was of high standard by the staff
The cons/improvements:
- the bar by the kids pool was closed which was commented on by other guests
- Dated/dark decor
- More vegan friendly foods
- No branded drinks included in all inclusive when it should be regardless if it’s got discount for all inclusive members
The comment regarding the drinks availability by the kids pool was sent through their app and Juan Carlos made sure the next day waiters came to serve us and bring drinks and also wished my husband happy birthday and sent us prosecco to the room which was unexpected so it shows that they listen to feedback which I don’t feel like we’ve ever experienced before! So well done to Juan Carlos and the team it was appreciated!"
