"Read this and remember this is a **** rated hotel, our Jet2 holiday was just under £3,000 including flights.
We were there for 10 nights late February to early March and it's a marmite review, some we loved, some we hated - the room!
We arrived late Saturday and first impression of the hotel is lovely. The public spaces are nice and everywhere is clean. We were met with a drink and check-in was easy. We had a suite which included a safe and there is a 10euro deposit for the key.
We took our very large cases to the room and our hearts sank. The room was poorly decorated, shabby & tatty. The hotel's website says the hotel has been renovated but they must have spent 90% of the money on the public areas. The light switches were well used and sockets looked old. The room card needs to go in a slot to enable power and that was also old and a bit dodgy.
The bedroom was first on the right, 2 single beds pushed together. Only storage in the room was a small wardrobe, the left side of which had 3 shelves underneath and even my shorts couldn't hang straight. The right side had about 9" of full hanging space with the rest taken up by a very tall safe.
There was only room in the wardrobe to unpack one suitcase so one of us lived out of a suitcase for 11 days.
The living room was spacious with a wall mounted TV and an old aircon unit which only has an on/off switch, no temperature control. There was a corner unit with a small shelf and 2 cupboards one of which contained the fridge. Even that was badly planned, the cupboard door opened opposite to the fridge door so awkward to get into it. There's a desk (3 pieces of wood) under the TV
The sofa/bed was awful, cheap & thin cushions and we could both feel the metalwork of the bed element.
On the balcony, the support for the external part of the aircon unit stuck out with sharp, unprotected edges.
And now for the bathroom. It looked newer than the rest of the suite with a shower tray the size of a bath, which it probably replaced when it was renovated. There's a basin in a unit and a toilet, no additional storage so even some of our toiletries lived out of a suitcase.
First morning I showered and the water was tepid at best. Not only that but the floor towel was completely soaked as was the floor all around it and we used 2 bath towels to mop it up.
Went to reception to report the issues and they made notes of it all, especially the bathroom.
Morning of day 2, spoke to reception and they made more notes. I also reported it to Jet2 and a local rep called me to say they'd talk to the hotel - they spoke to the deputy manager. By now I'd worked out the shower problem, the shower tray edges slope outwards, not inwards so the water that runs down the large glass panel runs along the bottom of the panel and onto the floor.
Told this to reception and we agreed with them not to use the bathroom until 6pm to let someone in and let the silicon dry properly.
No one did anything, neither this day or the rest of our holiday.
Met the deputy manager later that day and she said she'd look into it.
Morning of day 3, tried to talk to a nice gentleman on reception but was rudely interrupted by the lady I'd spoken to previously who ranted about a room change then said all bathrooms are the same. Wow!
My last serious conversation about the bathroom was later that day when the deputy manager repeated that all the bathrooms are the same.
We got used to managing the bathroom floor as best we could with our towels with enough time between showers to get a towel dry.
I also did find a way to stop some of the water, put a bottle at the end of the glass which nudged some of the water away from the floor. Turned out positioning of the bottle was crucial so it didn't stop most of the floods and we also forgot - not something I'd expect to have to do in a **** suite.
We'd discussed a change of suite but were told it might be a few days before we could look at one but they're all the same so little point in looking.
So that's the bad part of the holiday, which sadly is what we remember most about.
We were all-inclusive, it was good sized restaurant and we always found somewhere to seat without waiting. For our first 9 nights, the food became repetitive. Chef station if it had beef was always Entrecote. Pizzas were very much the same every day and I don't want to see sweet & sour pork for at least a few months.
On the last night, there was a complete change to the starter area and it was far better than the previous 9.
99% of the staff are fantastic. The cleaners did as good a job as possible and the bar & entertainment staff were fantastic.
Evening entertainment is a digital phone quiz or Bingo around 845 and an act on from 915.
I need to highlight Tomas in the entertainment team and Pavval behind the bar who's as much an entertainer as Tomas, besides making nice cocktails.
I've attached some of the best suite photos which reminded me of something else, one of the living room light switches is hidden behind the sofa bed (can't move it further down the wall, the other end is against a pillar)"
