Arona Gran Hotel

"It's a great hotel, so why not 5 stars you ask!! The simple niggles first... The cleaners either forget to sweep the floor or they need a new broom. Some rooms have baths with a shower over but that isn't mentioned when booking so make sure you ask for a walk-in shower if you have reduced mobility. Otherwise the room, bathroom and balcony are great with amazing views of the sea and harbour. We chose the 'UP' option, it was a fair chunk extra but you really do appreciate it, well we did and we'll be doing it again in 4 months time probably. You get the whole of the roof with a jacuzzi and 2 infinity pools, a free bar and light breakfast, lunch and cakes in the afternoon. We used the main restaurant for our breakfast as there was a greater choice, but it's all included in the price. Evening meals are also in the main restaurant, loads of different choices, different ones every night. My only gripe was the "canteen" feeling which I hope will be looked at soon. One meal at the in-house gourmet restaurant is also included in the "UP" package and it was amazing, exquisite food!! Drinks cost extra. All the staff are lovely and friendly, they will do anything they can for you. A massage and spa visit is included in the "UP", the massage was a bit too gentle for me and I didn't use the spa so I can't leave a comment on it I'm afraid. The main pool area looks good, there are 2 pools and a very large jacuzzi/hot tub and a fair amount of sunbeds but..... There's never enough sunbeds is there? 🤷. Humans are nuts when it comes to sunbathing, I don't understand why people want to stress and fight for a sunbed, you went on an expensive holiday to get away from stress 😬!! So to the surrounding areas. It's not the most beautiful area, Las Americanas and even Costa Adeje are much nicer. The footpaths are dirty, poorly illuminated and uneven. Once you get past the harbour and into Las Americanas it's lovely. We didn't feel safe outside the hotel after sunset. To round up... great hotel, especially with the "UP" package. Not so pretty and not much to do in the surrounding area. But you really don't need to leave the hotel 🤷. We'll definitely be back, some people we met have been coming here for 24 years 😯😯!!"

"Great holiday at the Arona Gran, the staff were very attentive always extremely polite & friendly. Spotlessly clean at all times, entertainment on every night, a great TV lounge & bar area. We stayed half board and the choice & quality of food was excellent. A great restaurant & bar by the pool for lunch/drinks & really comfortable loungers by the the pool. A really great stay & will be back."
