Regency Torviscas Apartments & Suites

"This was a sad moment for our trip. We had spent 2 weeks at 2 other lovely locations on Tenerife with this being our third week. I always read reviews of places before I commit but with this location, it was difficult to find. Everything kept pointing me to Regency Country Club so that is where I thought we were going. In fact we pulled up to that place for check-in and after determining we were not booked in there, they checked Regency Club and sent us there. We couldn't even pull it up on our GPS as it wasn't found, so the clerk at the Country Club plugged in the address for us and said it happens a lot where guests come to their location in error. Upon eventually arriving at the Regency Club in our car rental, what a let down! The entrance is awkward with no driveway in a very hilly area. The hills are fine but upon check-in we learn there is no parking at the hotel. (Yes, I should have checked on that before arrival) The front lobby reminded me of a typical older highway hotel. Upon getting our room, we located it and found it on the ground floor in a dark corner. Going inside, it was terribly hot and dark. This is when we discover there is no air conditioning which would have been tolerable if we could open the bedroom window (bolted shut). The room was located where the sun comes in via the patio through the sliding glass door into the living area in the afternoon. The patio was a good size but looked upon a tired looking public seating area for other guests so not very private. The biggest concern was the fact that for sleeping and no AC, we can't get any airflow. We can't safely leave the sliding door open overnight being on the ground floor and the bedroom window won't open. There are ceiling fans but that's it. We felt that we would not be able to sleep at all there so promptly found another place to spend our last week and checked back out. We will be talking to RCI about this property. We did look around the property before we left and pictures on the RCI listing that we based the booking on and it was very tired. The children's tiny play area was cordoned off with torn up carpet and very decrepit. I checked out the gym as well and it looked nothing like the photos, dark dingy and borderline scary looking. I would not use it! Finally, after owning our timeshare for 20 years we have never encountered a vacation property as poor as this one. RCI do better! "

"As I sit here on our last day I can safely say it has been another amazing visit. This is our 4th time at these apartments and really can’t complain about anything. We always got a sun bed, our rooms were clean and fresh towels every second day. All of the staff were friendly to us as we were to them. The beds weren’t the comfiest this time but that was just a small thing. It is at the top of a hill, 5€ in a taxi which we budgeted for each day. (Just walked down) thank you once again."

"Dated, shabby, and far too hot. No air con in rooms, which is essential in the canaries. The rooms facing the road are very noisy - 2am rubbish collections and you must have window open in order to cool down. Children in living room did not have their beds made up on arrival at 1am, they had to sleep on the sofa as were exhausted. Steep hill to beach and certainly doesn’t make the most of the sea view with many objects obscuring from the pool."
